"Later-stage investors, strategic players, and industry leaders must step up" Our co-founder and Managing Partner, Elizabeth Bailey's latest article in STAT discusses the trajectory of the women’s health sector. She highlights the critical need for continued investment, collaboration from industry leaders, and increased support from larger funds at later stages to ensure sustained innovation and growth. "Early-stage investors and entrepreneurs are at a critical juncture in women’s health. We need to partner with investors who can write bigger checks that ensure that these early wins don’t wither and die, and we need to grow our own assets under management to step in to lead those deals as well. Larger capital infusions are essential to propel startups toward commercialization. As the women’s health pipeline matures, the availability of later-stage investment will be critical in defining the sector’s ultimate success and potential." We are proud to see the Eunice Kennedy Shriver?National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) shine a spotlight on our portfolio company Raydiant Oximetry, Inc. ! "Raydiant Oximetry is?revolutionizing labor & delivery. In developing Lumerah?, a noninvasive sensor technology that directly measures fetal oxygen levels, Raydiant Oximetry aims to profoundly reduce the rising mortality and morbidity rates among mothers and babies during childbirth. For the past 50 years, electronic fetal monitoring has been associated with a 6-fold increase in cesarean delivery in the US without any evidence that it reduces the rate of neonatal neurologic injury, stillbirth or cerebral palsy. Obstetrical providers need a more reliable tool to evaluate fetal oxygenation." Keep up the great work Neil Ray and team!
NIH small business grants help support early-stage development of promising technologies. One example is Raydiant Oximetry’s Lumerah device, which seeks to provide a more accurate way to measure fetal distress during labor and delivery. Learn more: https://go.nih.gov/4MqN3Hq.
