Since opening in 2006, Ford Performance Racing School has provided instruction in high-performance driving to drivers of all levels. In addition to offering traditional driving instruction at retail, the school is home to business and product training programs conducted for Michelin/BFGoodrich, as well as the complimentary programs offered to first owners of new Ford Performance vehicles exclusively. Starting with the Boss Track Attack program in 2012, these programs have expanded to include the ST Octane Academy for Fiesta ST and Focus ST owners, GT500 Track Attack for Mustang Shelby GT500 customers, GT350 Track Attack for Mustang Shelby GT350 customers, RS Adrenaline Academy for owners of Focus RS, Raptor Assault for F-150 Raptor owners, and ST SUV Experience for Edge ST and Explorer ST customers. The Ford Performance Racing School is comprised of regional headquarters in Concord, North Carolina and Tooele, Utah with satellite venues in each region hosting the ST SUV Experience. 1983 ???????? ???????????????????? ???? – ???? ????????’?? ?????????? ???? ????. Ford unveiled its wildly unorthodox Mustang GTP on June 2, 1983. At that time, Ford proudly announced that the slippery car’s competition debut would be at IMSA’s upcoming race at Sears Point, aptly named the Ford California GT.?The track had been good to the Ford program, with Klaus Ludwig steering the Mustang Turbo to victory the two previous seasons.?Ford’s luck ran out in 1983. Here’s how the weekend went, as reported by the Oakland Tribune: “… Ford has put a great deal of money into Sears Point International Raceway, including sponsorship of this weekend’s Camel GT program which bears its name and had earmarked Sears for the unveiling of its sleek new Mustang prototype. “A design problem forced Ford management to, oh, so, reluctantly withdraw its GTP from the race. Then Ford switched its racing effort to preparing the GTO class Mustang driven by Bruce Jenner and John Bauer. Jenner trashed the car in Thursday’s practice. Suddenly the Ford California GT had no Fords. ?“’We considered a number of options,’ admitted the Ford rep.?‘The wildest idea we had was taking the Thunderbird (NASCAR) Grand National car we have on display here and getting it fixed up to race.?It is a replica of the car Dale Earnhardt won with at Nashville last weekend.?It seemed feasible for a moment, but discretion finally convinced us to let the idea drop.’ “Enter Jon Beekhuis, who is racing in the Champion Spark Plug Challenge series with, low and behold, a Ford Escort.?Beekhuis found himself the center of attention, a happy turn of events since his Escort was in desperate need of attention. “In Friday practice, Beekhuis broke an engine and the new engine put into the racer had misfire problems in Saturday’s practice session, electrical trouble during qualifying.?He did not get a qualifying time and will start in the rear of the race today.” Although not running at the finish, Beekhuis was classified as 29th of the 33 starters.?It was a long weekend for the Blue team! #ford #fordhistory #fordperformance #fordperformanceracingschool #fordracing #knowyourroots #racing #roots #waybackwednesday
