The Ford Motor Company Model e and Integrated Services teams joined the Michigan Central tech and cultural ecosystem in The Station. Occupying two floors within the restored historic building, the teams will continue focusing on the innovation and advancement of Ford’s mission toward an electrified future. Soon, an additional floor designed as a workspace for cross-team collaboration will be open for Ford employees to reserve. Located in Shanghai, the Ford Motor Company China Design Center is a showcase for the future of automotive design. As Ford's sixth global design center, the state-of-the-art facility supports Ford China design teams in creating new vehicles from a sketch to a full-sized clay model, all under one roof. The workspace's human-centric design allows for seamless collaboration throughout the design process, both internally and globally, with the Advanced Product Marketing, Enterprise Connectivity, and D-Ford Human-Centered Design Studio located just next door. Industry-leading design technologies incorporated throughout the center accelerate innovation. Designers use virtual reality technology to test and refine digital concepts before the designs undergo fabrication in the in-house clay model workshop. Ford Land recently completed our renovation of the Ford Engineering Lab (FEL), which has reopened just in time for its 100th anniversary. The transformation honors the original Albert Kahn design and modernizes the workspace for Ford Motor Company’s employees. 220K sq ft of modernized workspaces promote collaboration within the building and beyond. Individual workstations with sit-stand desks, dozens of focus/huddle/conference rooms, and regenerative amenities support the employee experience and promote a choice of work styles. We restored the original ceiling height and skylights to provide generous natural light. We also exposed and preserved key historical elements such as original metalwork, concrete columns, and Henry Ford's and Edsel Ford's offices allowing employees and visitors to step back in time. Located in Glendale, Kentucky, the 3.9 million sq. ft. BlueOval SK, LLC battery park is the first of its kind for Ford Motor Company. Once completed, the electric vehicle battery plant will have an annual capacity of 43GW, producing batteries for future Ford and Lincoln electric vehicles. Recently, the Engineering News-Record story "Sparking the Future: Ford's $5.8B Battery Plant Advances" highlighted the plant's journey toward completion.
