Wasnt it an incredible in-person event Jamie Dineen ? I am so glad I was able to attend. For people who might be reluctant to go back to in-person events, honestly this is the best time to attend nearby community events. Community hosted events tend to be small enough that they offer chances for real connections and meaningful technical discussions. They have a dual focus on building community and offering incredible content and so these events manage to curate the most valuable experiences for attendees. If you are staying home because events felt crowded or overwhelming in the past, you’ll appreciate the smaller local community events. They provide deeper connections between attendees, which leads to broader success for the entire community. Tides raise all boats as the saying goes, and community events prove that point. July offers a lot of great events and you can find the full calendar here: https://lnkd.in/gCxGrSmU Thank you to Forcelandia for bringing us all together this year.
Salesforce Certified Administrator | ERP Implementation | Business System Design & Process Optimization
What a way to kick off my first week as a Certified Salesforce Admin. At the encouragement of the incredible ??Jana Walker?? I bought a last minute ticket to #Forcelandia. I had seen it listed on SFB’s 2024 events but wrote it off thinking ‘I’m new to Salesforce, I’m not a developer, surely this event doesn’t apply to me!’ Boy was I wrong. I’m in awe of this community and deeply grateful to be so instantly and genuinely welcomed. I’m not entirely sure where my place is in the ecosystem yet, but I am thrilled to be here figuring it out. I had many wonderful and informative conversations, but particular thanks to Jennifer O., ??Jana Walker??, Janeen Marquardt, MBA, PMP, Ian Gotts, Manny Travieso, Rafael Hernandez, Larry Latimer, Chris L., Bonny Hinners-Krucik, CTA for your generosity.

Had a great week attending my first Forcelandia! My thanks to the organizing team Angela Mahoney, MBA, CSM ?, Kate Lessard, Michael Brandwein, Larry Latimer, Tracy Greene, ??Jana Walker??, Evan Johnson, Chelyn Briand, Kevin Poorman, Stephanie Poorman, Stephanie Foerst, & Blake Norman for putting on such a great event from start to finish. Also a special shoutout to my favorite partner in crime Melissa Shepard, I always enjoy our catch up in person sessions as you jet around the world... and to my speaking partner in her first (of what is now going to be many) talks on our case study together, ??Jana Walker??. And maybe my newly adoptive "little sister" Joy Shutters-Helbing who always makes me happy, if its talking about all the oreos in all the flavors or lamenting that we had waaayyy too much fun the night before we had to speak... I am here for you girl, no matter what you need! One final special heartfelt mention to my fellow Women In Tech Panelists Lauren LaMonte, Melissa Hansen, and Neha Ahlawat and the organizers of the breakfast - The Salesforce Women in Tech Group, Portland - Kate Lessard and @liz mangano and to GreenePowered LLC for their sponsorship, without whom we would not be able to have had these conversations. And for anyone who is interested in my "Tech Looks Like Me" shirt and other cool ones like it, check out Monica B. and all her designs! Thank you all for a wonderful (if hot) week, and see you next week in Minneapolis (or London)!

Last week T2 attended our second Forcelandia. This is a great event for those who build with clicks aka ME, or those who build with code aka Developers. The size of the conference also allows you to interact with presenters, which can be more difficult at larger conferences. It was great seeing and catching up with old and new faces! Joshua Hoskins ?Kristi Campbell Kelly Bentubo Jamie Dineen Evan Ponter Ian Gotts Highlights for me: Joshua Birk presentation on AI. ??Jana Walker??and Janeen Marquardt, MBA, PMP presentation on Crafting a Salesforce-Focused GPT: Insights from a Business Analyst’s Journey. While AI scares the crap out of me, I will be learning how to optimize my time using it! Also, big thank you to all the presenters, sponsors, and people behind the scenes! Gearset Slalom DayBack Calendar Artichoke Consulting LLC Nylas Copado Mike Reynolds ??Jana Walker?? Deborah Walter Alex Bryner Angela Mahoney, MBA, CSM ? Larry Latimer Michael Brandwein Evan Johnson Kate Lessard Chelyn Briand Tracy Greene Kevin Poorman Stephanie Foerst Stephanie Poorman Blake Norman Sorry if I missed anyone!

Favorite quotes from Forcelandia this year: "Treat sandboxes the way you treat a hoodie. You can use it a few times, but then it starts to smell bad." -Mike Reynolds, on treating sandboxes as ephemeral and for a specific use "You are Frodo with the ring - protect those branches!" -Mike Reynolds, on carefully protecting higher environments in a development pipeline "When talking to external (i.e. business) stakeholders, there is no such thing as 'tech debt'. There is only VALUE ADD.' -Marina Shuman, on communicating the value of tackling tech debt (i.e. improvements in performance, security, time to deploy, UI, user support, speed to deliver...) "Think of yourself as the tech lead. AI is your dev team, who need very specific instructions." -Brett Barlow, on writing code with AI (and how to provide guidance, give good examples, get unstuck, etc.)

Sometimes, I forget how fortunate I've been to have had various opportunities throughout my life. This week, I learned about the Kerrnandez Foundation, an organization that supports university students who often struggle to access similar opportunities. They use Salesforce to empower these students and their community in an economically challenged area of Mexico. If you can, please consider making a small donation to support their efforts. If you're unable to donate, sharing this message would also be greatly appreciated so that others can learn about the amazing work they are doing. For more information about the opportunities they are creating with the help of the students, please visit: About Us - Kerrnandez Foundation - https://lnkd.in/ea_9B7g9 Kerrnandez Foundation on LinkedIn - https://bit.ly/3xTVCg1 Podcast Episode: Enabling a Community with Rafael Hernandez -https://sforce.co/3zyu5RG #KerrnandezFoundation #Forcelandia

Once again, #forcelandia delivered. Compelling content, great conversation, and really smart people doing cool stuff. And it was extra fun to finish the show on a panel with Brad Gross, Stephanie Foerst, Angela Mahoney, MBA, CSM ? and of course the best business partner a person could ask for, Melissa Hansen. Thanks to everyone who made it happen - let's run it back next year!
