关于我们
FORCE11 is a community of scholars, librarians, archivists, publishers and research funders that has arisen organically to help facilitate the change toward improved knowledge creation and sharing. Individually and collectively, we aim to bring about a change in modern scholarly communications through the effective use of information technology. FORCE11 has grown from a small group of like-minded individuals into an open movement with clearly identified stakeholders associated with emerging technologies, policies, funding mechanisms and business models. The written word has great expressive power to communicate complex ideas. But our founding assumption is that semantically enhanced, media-rich digital publishing will be more powerful than traditional print media or electronic copies of printed works. However, to date, online versions of ‘scholarly outputs’ have tended to replicate print forms, rather than exploit the additional functionalities afforded by the digital terrain. We believe that digital publishing of enhanced papers will enable more effective scholarly communication, which will also broaden to include, for example, the publication of software tools, and research communication by means of social media channels. We see FORCE11 as a starting point for a community that we hope will grow and be augmented by individual and collective efforts by the participants and others. We invite you to join and contribute to this enterprise. FORCE11 grew out of the FORC Workshop held in Dagstuhl, Germany in August 2011. Hence, the "11" in FORCE11.

?? Did you know it's Love Data Week? This year's theme — "Whose Data Is It, Anyway?" — encourages conversations about the importance of data transparency. One of the best ways to ensure the data associated with the articles you publish is transparent is by promoting the FAIR Data Principles from the GO FAIR initiative, which calls for academic data to be Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable. This #JournalTipsTuesday, we're covering steps to get started. ?? Champion data sharing Start by educating authors about the benefits of FAIR data and encourage them to deposit their data into repositories by: ?? Directing them to information on the technical aspects of data-citation software and good data-management practices, such as the Make Data Count community ?? Pointing them toward resources for picking appropriate repositories, such as fairsharing.org and re3data.org ?? Encouraging them to use persistent identifiers, including signing up for ORCID and assigning DOIs to the data they archive ?? Focusing on streamlining your processes and guidelines around data sharing to improve uptake ?? Get involved in the conversation Academic journal editors and publishers can help move the FAIR Principles from recommendations to reality by proactively contributing to the FAIR community and encouraging authors to join. Ways you can do this include: ?? Engage in open-forum discussions on platforms such as FAIRpoints ?? Make connections with like-minded stakeholders by engaging with community-driven initiatives in the field, such as FORCE11 and the Center for Open Science ?? Subscribe to the social media channels and newsletters of organizations focusing on the specific technical aspects of FAIRification, such as the Research Data Alliance (RDA) ?? Strive to adhere to the FAIR principles in all aspects of your organization's activities, including internal and peer review processes ?? Actively seek feedback from your authors on how to improve your practices around data sharing and FAIRification ?? Explore the power of incentives Finally, consider ways to highlight your organization's overall progress toward FAIRification to keep up momentum and morale among your journal team and authors. Adopting the Open Science Badge system for authors from the Center for Open Science is one such approach. The badges flag when the data accompanying a scholarly article are openly available and certify data accessibility and durability. Implementing OS Badges has been shown to increase data sharing. We hope you found this roundup helpful! Do you have additional tips to share? Add them to the comments.?? #fairdata #opendata #scholarlypublishing #LoveData25
