Daniel* came to the US with his family to seek a new life, but instead he found heartbreak. His wife left him and he had to care for their two young sons alone. He wanted a better job to provide for them, but his English skills were minimal. His sons were distracted by the wrong friends in school and struggling in their studies. God led him to classes at For the Nations DC and shared his concerns with his teacher. Not only did he receive help in studying English, he and his sons were welcomed into a community where they could thrive together! You can help your new neighbors to learn English, get practical help, and build relationships so that their whole family can flourish. Give today at FTNDC.org. * A pseudonym. 关于我们
Our mission is to offer hope and help to immigrant families through quality English education, life skills training, and early childhood education. We teach English to adults and offer child care and preschool activities for children ages 0 to 5 years old. We love engaging with students outside of class, whether it is sharing a meal or helping them navigate life in the United States. We hope that through our mission immigrant families will truly flourish and find the ultimate source of hope, Jesus Christ.

Many refugee and immigrant families have left everything behind to start life fresh in the U.S. They face daily challenges with courage and determination. You can make a gift this Giving Tuesday to support refugee and immigrant families in the DC area. Your gift to For the Nations DC can help provide practical help like ESOL classes as well as the encouragement that your new neighbors need as they build new lives.

Do you want to help children to thrive? We're hiring one part-time childcare worker at our Alexandria site. We provide free childcare for the children of our adult ESOL students, which allows parents to focus on their English classes and helps their children to flourish. In this role, you are responsible for providing a safe, loving, and enriching experience for children from many cultures who are living in the northern Virginia area. Share this post with anyone who may be interested or send us a message for more details.

When people are learning English, they are often afraid to make mistakes. That's why we create a supportive, welcoming place for students to learn at For the Nations DC. Learning English in community not only improves the students' ability to read and write, but it also provides the supportive relationships that all of us need to reach new milestones! We can laugh when we make mistakes--rather than feeling ashamed--and celebrate every success together. #ESOL #refugees #ELL

Grateful for the opportunity to represent For the Nations DC at First Baptist Church of Alexandria this weekend! This faithful church partner generously shares their space so that we can provide adult ESOL classes to our new neighbors in Alexandria, Va. That is the beauty of partnership: working together to meet the needs of our community. We get to do this work together! To learn more about partnering with FTNDC, please send us a message. We’d love to grab coffee with you and talk more. #ESOL #refugees #NOVA

Fall classes start next week! We missed our students over the summer and can’t wait to see them again for another year of learning. They are excited too. Here’s what a returning student told one of out teachers: “I am very excited to go back to school. I miss the atmosphere of friendship and study, and I miss the place and everything ????” #ESOL #refugees #adulteducation
