After a year focused on its core turnaround strategy,?Allbirds?is looking to newness to drive growth in 2025. On the company’s fourth quarter?earnings?call on Tuesday, Allbirds chief executive officer?Joe Vernachio?told analysts that it’s an “exciting time” at the company. Shoe prices decelerated in February in tandem with overall?inflation, according to the latest data from the Footwear Distributors and Retailers of America (FDRA). Last month, retail?footwear prices?slid a modest 0.2 percent from a year ago, only the second decline in the last 18 months,?the FDRA noted. This came as prices dropped 1.5 percent year-over-year for children’s shoes and declined 0.6 percent for women’s footwear. This was offset by a 0.8 percent increase in men’s shoes?last month. DICK'S Sporting Goods posted the best holiday season in its history, but in light of the “dynamic macroeconomic environment,” lowered its projections for this year. On Tuesday morning, the Pittsburgh-based sporting goods retailer reported a 6.4 percent gain in comparable-store stores in the fourth quarter, exceeding analyst expectations of below 3 percent, and net income of $300 million, up 1 percent from the $296 million in the same period last year. Manolo Blahnik is putting its good foot forward with the launch of the Manolo Blahnik Scholarship at the University of the Arts London’s London College of Fashion. The luxury footwear brand will be supporting students in their studies to ensure that “financial barriers do not stand in the way of creative excellence,” said the brand. Reebok Golf is now in full swing. After announcing its return to the sport in December 2024, before month’s end, the brand will deliver a new range of performance footwear and apparel.
