Our mission is to create vibrant, stable communities, in areas of opportunity, via bold and strategic initiatives, and to provide families and individuals with housing options driven by compassion and respect throughout Jefferson County. How do we do this, you may ask. We do this by proudly administering a Housing Choice Voucher program that serves over 1700 households. We own and manage 21 affordable communities in Jeffco that serve people with incomes between 0 - 90% of the AMI. We develop new housing options in areas of opportunity and redevelop existing communities to serve our residents better. We manage an Emergency Home Repair program that helps low-income homeowners afford necessary repairs to keep their housing. (You could say we build bridges, because we have.) Then, to top it all off, our Resident Services Team helps keep our residents connected to resources and provide a variety of social and learning events.

The City of Wheat Ridge was presented with $2M Community Project Fund (CPF) grant from the Department of Housing & Urban Development, that was made possible through the advocacy of Congresswoman Brittany Pettersen and Senator John Hickenlooper. The announcement event, held last Thursday, saw a gathering of community stakeholders and featured remarks from Mayor Bud Starker, Housing Program Administrator Terrance Ware, Foothills Regional Housing CEO Lori Rosendahl, and Congresswoman Pettersen. The event highlighted the city’s commitment to preserving affordable rental housing, which is becoming increasingly endangered due to rising regional housing costs. We have been rapidly growing which has made all staff get togethers challenging due to a lack of space. Luckily, we are the proud owners of a former Pep Boys that will eventually be demolished and turned into beautiful affordable housing. In the meantime, our incredible maintenance staff got to work cleaning it up and making it safe for a summer BBQ last week. We had games, prizes, a DJ, a doodle wall, and of course lots of yummy BBQ. We're looking forward to utilizing this space for more fun get togethers, as long as we can.??
Our residents and staff had the best time celebrating National Night Out on Tuesday! We are thankful to our partners Arvada Police Department and Westminster Colorado Police Department for visiting our celebrations and to City of Wheat Ridge Police Department for letting us join in on their event.
We are excited to share that The Ives is officially open! The Ives features 50 units with on-site services from Jefferson Center for Mental Health, community space, and is walkable to jobs, groceries, and transportation. The building was dedicated to our long-time board member, Brian Ballard, who through decades of service helped better Jefferson County and was indispensable in helping FRH develop needed affordable housing. We also honored the City of Wheat Ridge Police Department for being such a wonderful partner for our residents and community. It was an honor to share this event with our HUD @Regional Administrator Dominique Jackson, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Public and Indian Housing Rich Monocchio, Jefferson County Commissioner Tracy Kraft-Tharp, Wheat Ridge Mayor Bud Starker, and so many of our partners and supporters. A special thank you to Shopworks Architecture for designing and Calcon Constructors, Inc. for building this beautiful community.
Yesterday, we were honored to host Governor Polis and our State Representatives and Senators at AVi at Olde Town as the Governor signed into law three bills (SB24-008 Kinship Foster Care Homes, HB24-1434 Expand Affordable Housing Tax Credit, and SB24-174 Sustainable Affordable Housing Assistance). We look forward to the benefit these bills will have on foster children, their families, and those who need an affordable place to call home.

Congratulations to our neighbors, Boulder County Housing Authority, for being selected as one of the newest MTW agencies!
