One of our passionate Members in Brazil, Diogo da Silva Cardoso, is a professor and incredible advocate for the cooperative model and our mission to buy a football club together! ???? ?? Here he highlights the 7 principles of cooperatives, our FCG mission, and lists 22 awesome member-owned clubs around the world! ?
?????? Pai de Levi, Helena e Mariana | ????? Professor e pesquisador | ???????
???? 2- FC Schalke 04 ???? 3- FC Bayern München ???? 4- Sporting Club Bastiais ???? 5- KSK Beveren ???? 6- K. Lyra-Lierse ???? 7- FC Barcelona ???? 8- Real Madrid C.F. ???? 9- Sestao River Club ???? 10- Sport Lisboa e Benfica ???? 11- Sporting Clube de Portugal ???? 12- Amora FC - Futebol, SAD ???? 13- Bohemians Praha 1905 ???? 14- FC METALIST 1925 KHARKIV LLC ???? 15- Cruz Azul F.C. ???? 16- Mushuc Runa S.C. ???? 17- Barcelona S.C. ???? 18- Club Deportivo 10 de Noviembre Wilstermann Cooperativa ???? 19- Ethiopian Coffee F.C. ???? 20- Sidama Bunna F.C. ???? 21- Djoliba A.C. ???? 22- SANDLANDERS FOOTBALL LIMITED ???? In the bustling streets of small towns across Italy, Spain, and England, football aka soccer isn't just a game—it's the lifeblood of joy and symbol of hope for the community. ? Here, local clubs often play in the 7th to 10th divisions of the football pyramid, the sport thrives in its purest form. These tiers are home to clubs born from the dreams of a small group of lovers of the game, sustained by the unwavering passion of their local community.????? Our FCG President, Anthony Fiume, reflects on how the lowest leagues have the highest passion and potential, and how the cooperative model may be the key to unlocking it all:

When we think of exceptional, amazing sports team owners, Mark Cuban and Michele Kang stand out. But for every Cuban or Kang, there are countless absentee billionaires who treat sports clubs as personal trophies or speculative ventures, disconnected from the lifeblood of these teams—the fans and communities they represent. This is why Football Club Group (FCG) exists. We’re here to challenge the status quo and propose a better model that already exists and thrives in football but is largely unknown in the United States: member-owned, community-driven clubs where fans collectively own their favorite sports teams. While owners like Cuban and Kang set an admirable example, they are exceptions, not the rule. To safeguard the future of sports, it’s time to reimagine ownership entirely:

At Football Club Group, we are driven by a vision of football that is inclusive, joyful, successful and community-focused. ? Our mission to buy a football club together is centered around our core Starting 11 Values—a foundational set of principles that define who we are, how we act, and what we strive to achieve together. These values are not just words; they are commitments we live by every day as we work towards that goal of acquiring a football club and building a legacy for generations to come. ?? As the holiday season and the close of the year bring a natural time for reflection, we find it fitting to revisit these values and celebrate how we’ve lived them every day in 2024:

There’s a story we’ve all lived. It’s the story of standing on the sidelines, watching a world that feels beyond our control. We see challenges in our communities, in our industries, in the game we love. We feel the ache of wanting to make a difference but wonder: how can one person, alone, move the immovable? Here’s the truth: none of us can do it alone. But the beauty of the human spirit is that we were never meant to. The story of progress—the story of change—is written by people who come together, pooling their talents, their energy, and their resources to achieve something far greater than the sum of its parts. That’s what #cooperatives are about. It’s not just about getting a job done. It’s about the belief that, when we work as one, we can achieve the extraordinary.
