Thank you to Damon and Shilpa at?Florence Fang Community Farm?for giving a tour and an insightful lesson to a group of?#FoodwiseTeens! ?? In October, students from John O'Connell High School took a trip to Florence Fang Farm, where they got a lesson on the ways that our environment helps us (and the ways we can help our environment) while exploring the diverse crops that thrive on the farm. ?? While they were there, they also helped out by pulling some weeds! Florence Fang Farm, located in the Bayview, is the largest community farm in San Francisco. ?? Their natural farming techniques promote food sovereignty among communities of color and encourage everyone to foster healthy living habits. ?#FoodwiseTeens?is a paid youth development program where teens become change agents for a sustainable, equitable, and nourishing food future. Through hands-on experiences in the garden, in the kitchen, and at the farmers market, students learn about food justice, develop important life and job skills, and build community together. ??
