  • Expiry Dates Are Lying to You! Here’s What They Don’t Tell You! You check the "Best Before" date and think, Great! Still good to eat! That sounds fine—until you realize that by the time it reaches you, it may have already aged for months-losing its Stale flavour, nutrients, and freshness. Do you know when your food was actually harvested, processed, or stored? ?Let’s break it down with some examples: Coffee – Shelf life: 9 months But was it roasted last week or 6 months ago? That changes the taste and quality! Chocolate – Shelf life: 12-24 months But was the cocoa harvested last season or two years ago? Olive Oil – Shelf life: 18-24 months But how long ago were the olives crushed? Was the oil stored properly to prevent rancidity? Wine – Shelf life: Varies (except aging wines) But was it exposed to heat or improper storage before you even bought it? Frozen Meat – Shelf life: Up to 12 months But was it frozen immediately after processing, or was it sitting for days before freezing? The Expiry Date Isn’t Enough—You Deserve the Whole Story! FoodTraze ensures real transparency in food supply chains with blockchain-powered traceability. ? Know when your coffee was roasted, not just its expiry date. ? Track how long cocoa was stored before becoming chocolate. ? See if your olive oil was produced this season or from old stock. ? Verify if frozen meat was handled correctly before freezing. Imagine scanning a QR code and seeing the entire journey of your food—not just a printed "Best Before" date! Wouldn’t you rather trust a product with full transparency? Let’s demand better food traceability! #FoodTraceability #blockchain #foodsafety #supplychain #Foodtraze #SustainableFood #KnowYourFood #TrustYourFood

  • Ensuring Food Authenticity: Fighting Food Fraud in the Global Supply Chain Food fraud is a growing challenge that impacts consumer trust, public health, and the integrity of global food networks. A recent article by Sterling Crew, Chair of the Food Authenticity Network, highlights key risks and strategies to mitigate food crime threats. Some major cases of food fraud over the years include: ? Illegal Dyes in Spices (2003) – Sudan Red dyes added to chili powder to enhance color and price; the initial recall cost £100 million. This practice continues today. ? Chinese Melamine Scandal (2008) – Adulteration of infant formula with melamine to boost nitrogen levels in the product. Thousands of infants were hospitalized, and six deaths were reported, leading to a global recall of Chinese dairy products. ? Horsemeat Scandal (2013) – Horsemeat was detected in comminuted beef products sold across Europe, resulting in the recall of millions of products and financial losses for the industry. ? Parmesan Cheese Fraud (2016) – Cellulose, a wood-based filler, was found in Parmesan cheese sold in the US. Some products contained only 2% Parmesan cheese, with the rest being fillers and additives. ? Spanish Olive Oil Fraud (2016) – Lower-grade oils were mislabeled and sold as extra virgin olive oil in Spain. Up to 80% of lower-grade oil was mixed with additives and artificial colors. ? Canadian Honey Laundering (2018) – Honey from China was imported into Canada and sold as pure Canadian honey. Some batches also contained banned antibiotics. ? Relabeling Expired Food and Beverages (2023) – Criminal gangs in Italy and Latvia fraudulently changed expiration dates to make millions of food products appear fresh and safe for consumption. The article emphasizes that transparency in the food supply chain is crucial to combating fraud. At FoodTraze, we believe #Blockchain-powered food traceability can play a vital role in ensuring food authenticity, allowing consumers and businesses to verify the origins, processing, and quality of their food. • ?? Blockchain Technology: A Game-Changer in the Fight Against Counterfeit Products ?? In a recent article from Jaleen Ramos, published in Retail Asia, Japan's beauty industry is tackling counterfeit products using blockchain technology combined with QR codes, NFC tags, and smart packaging to protect consumers from fraud. This shift is crucial in an industry where Quick Commerce and Online shopping has made it difficult for buyers to physically verify their purchases. Just like Japan’s efforts, FoodTraze is leveraging blockchain technology to provide a secure and transparent system for food traceability. Here’s how blockchain is helping combat food fraud: ?? Enhanced Transparency: Much like QR codes are used in Japan’s beauty industry to verify authenticity, FoodTraze empowers food producers to track each stage of food production—from farm to table. Consumers can scan a QR code to trace the entire journey of their food and ensure it’s authentic. ? Combating Counterfeits: Blockchain ensures that only verified products reach consumers, removing the possibility of counterfeiting in both the food and beauty industries. FoodTraze uses this technology to ensure that every food item is genuine and traceable. ?? Smart Packaging and QR Codes: Like Japan's beauty products, FoodTraze uses QR codes for easy access to product details. This allows consumers to easily verify the authenticity and journey of their food products. ?? Building Trust in the Food Industry: Just as Japan's beauty industry is using these technologies to build consumer trust, FoodTraze helps food producers, especially small-scale farmers, to demonstrate transparency and trustworthiness with their consumers. Blockchain is changing the way consumers view product authenticity, be it in Food Industry, Pharmaceutical Industry or Beauty Industry.? By embracing this technology, FoodTraze is paving the way for a more secure, transparent, and trustworthy food supply chain. The Purpose of CCP (Critical Control Point) in food safety is to: 1. Prevent, Eliminate, or Reduce Hazards: Ensure that significant hazards (biological, chemical, or physical) are controlled to safe levels at specific stages of food processing. 2. Compliance with HACCP Systems: Fulfill the requirements of the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) system to guarantee food safety. 3. Ensure Consumer Safety: Protect consumers from foodborne illnesses or contamination risks by controlling critical points in the food production process. 4. Regulatory Compliance: Meet food safety standards and regulatory requirements set by authorities like ISO, FDA, or local food safety agencies. 5. Improve Food Quality: Support the production of safe and high-quality food products. By monitoring and managing CCPs effectively, food businesses can identify risks and take corrective actions to maintain safety standards. #ccp #foodsafety #quality #hygiene #foodtechnology #allaboutfood #hazard
