关于我们
Food Bank of the Rockies (FBR) was founded in 1978 and was known as the Colorado Food Clearing House. Operating from a 900-square-foot schoolroom in northwest Denver, the fledgling organization collected food from nearby Safeway stores and distributed it to one agency. Today, FBR has extended its reach across Northern Colorado and Wyoming, providing food supplies to more than 600 hunger-relief programs. Since 1978, FBR has provided food for families in need. Last year, we distributed nearly 49 million meals, enough to provide more than 134,000 meals each day. Food Bank of the Rockies is a BBB accredited charity and holds a 4-Star Rating from Charity Navigator. 96¢ of every dollar we receive goes toward our hunger relief programs. Thank you Heather Collins for inviting me to participate in this amazing 9/11 service project. Many of you know that I lived in NYC during 9/11 and was all too close to the tragic events of that day. As I said during the video, it's nice to see something good come out of this horrible day with folks coming together for service projects across the country. Ours supported the Food Bank of the Rockies and these amazing volunteers prepared over 200,000 meals for those in need! "Never forget . . . what we're capable of doing together!" https://lnkd.in/gEP9wg3p

Today, our Mortenson team had an incredible time volunteering at the Food Bank of the Rockies! We rolled up our sleeves assembling bags and kits of food for community pick-up at the Mobile Pantry at Red Rocks Church in Lakewood. A huge shout-out to our amazing team members: Andrew Naleid, Richard Cotterman, Debbie Perry, Cassidy Collins, Tiffany Osterman, Patrick Mulligan, and Ian Bormett, EIT. And a very special shout-out to Trevor Koziczkowski and Jesus Rodriguez, who traveled all the way from Montana to lend a hand... and maybe take care of a few other less important things. ?? It's days like these that remind us of the power of community and teamwork. ??#MortensonDenver #BuildingCommunity #Teamwork

Today, I had the privilege of volunteering for '9/11 Day’ along with my Experian colleagues. '9/11 Day' is an organization that congregates volunteers from various corporations across the United States in observance of the 9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance. As part of the Experian Social Denver chapter, my colleagues and I spent this afternoon packing meals to be distributed by Food Bank of the Rockies. Our group was a small part of volunteers that packed 200,000 meals at Empower Field at Mile High Special Events in Denver. I am thankful to Experian for providing volunteer time off to support this noble cause in remembrance of 9/11. #volunteer #911Day #911dayofservice #911volunteer #mealpack #911volunteer

Last week, I got to take advantage of one of my favorite perks of working at Blue Cross NC: paid time off to volunteer in my community. ? I spent a few hours sorting donated goods at the Food Bank of the Rockies, which is one of the country's largest food banks and supports communities all across Colorado and Wyoming. My favorite find of the day was this enormous mystery red-appearing liquid that turned out to be, surprisingly, olive oil. ? I've been volunteering with FBOTR for several years now, and one of my favorite things about their organization is that they don't just give out the processed foods that often make their way to food banks. They also purchase and distribute fresh produce, meat, and dairy to community members, addressing an important aspect of food insecurity: nutritional insecurity. They're also a highly sophisticated operation and can get a lot of value out of every dollar donated and every hour volunteered. ? I'm posting this in part to remind anyone who also has PTO for volunteering to take advantage of it before the end of 2024! The fall is one of the busiest times of year for food banks, and I know your local food bank would likely appreciate willing hands to help alleviate hunger in your community. If you're in the Denver metro region, I highly recommend giving your time to the Food Bank of the Rockies. You, too, may find a 3-gallon vat of olive oil and get to pose with it as if it's a prize-winning fish.
