Over the weekend we had the honor of serving members of the community near our Crenshaw farmers' market and Watts/Willowbrook farmers' market alongside our friends at the Social Justice Learning Institute. We partnered with one of our farmers, J M Produce to distribute 300 free mixed produce boxes. We were also able to hand out resource information about our market match and EBT benefits at all Food Access LA markets to members in the community who may not know about this option. Thank you Wondaland Arts Society for being a part of this distribution and helping to expand food access in our communities! #wondalunch #losangeles

Dear Friends, We are overwhelmed with gratitude as we reflect on the incredible support we received during our fall membership drive. Thanks to you—our generous donors, new monthly members, and amazing community partners—we met our goal this month! We’re thrilled to share that we now have 97 monthly donors! This critical support ensures the continued operation of our farmers’ markets and programs dedicated to food equity. Because of you, we’re in a much stronger financial position and can confidently say that ALL of our markets are on their way to becoming thriving community hubs. In times when we feel disconnected from one another, we are proud to offer a place where our community can come together, build connections, and support one another. From media partners helping us tell our story, to behind-the-scenes anonymous donors, to community partners amplifying our mission, and to each person who forwarded an email, reposted a story, donated, or visited a market—we are deeply grateful. Your kind messages have been shared with our team and have truly energized us all. Looking ahead, we’re excited to expand our free, culturally, and community-specific market activities and continue creating a safe, welcoming space for farmers and food vendors to connect directly with you. Thank you for showing us so much love and support. We are excited for what’s to come in 2025 and beyond—and we couldn’t have done it without you. With heartfelt gratitude, Jennifer Grissom, Executive Director Food Access LA

Today we partnered with our friends at Support & Feed to bring fresh produce from our farmers markets to those in need in our South LA community. We sourced from our Watts/Willowbrook and Crenshawfm to donate boxes with local produce grown by JM Produce & sourdough loaves baked by Bread Bae Co. These boxes were donated to the Sisters of Watts and Esperanza Community Housing. We were able to provide these boxes thanks to funding through the Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) , which is a federal program administered by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to supplement local jurisdictions’ efforts to combat housing and food insecurity. The program is locally administered by the Los Angeles Local Board and United Way of Los Angeles. Thank you to all of our partners!

Over the weekend, our eat! program sourced from our Crenshaw Farmers' Market to donate boxes with local produce grown by J M Produce & sourdough loaves baked by Bread Bae Co. to families who stopped by the free health screening event at VMPCSU hosted by USC KDSAP and Community Services Unlimited. Thank you to all of our amazingly generous donors in our community! We are now at 50% of our goal to save our Farmers’ Markets! We’ve raised $2451 in committed monthly donations from 65 monthly members! We still need more support to reach our goal of 300 monthly donors but we know we can do it with your support! Here’s what one of our current donors had to say: "I’ve been donating for six months, and knowing that my contribution helps keep the markets alive is incredibly rewarding. These markets are so important to our community." We’ve come so far, but there’s still work to do. Will you join us and help save these vital community spaces? Every donation keeps local farmers and vendors in business and provides affordable, fresh food to underserved communities. Another way to help is to share our story. It's as easy as sharing one of our posts on Instagram, forwarding this email, or sharing one of the many articles that came out this past week: Click here to see the media we received from LA Eater, KCAL, Beverly Press, Eastsider LA, KNX, LAist, LA Mag, or NBC - https://lnkd.in/gb7BytwJ Join the Community – Help Us Reach Our Goal!
