It's We Grow Wednesday, and recently, IMPACT students at Shaker Middle School joined Laura Manning, local chemist and creator of LaJAshley, a trailblazing 100% natural/vegan company, in creating natural lip balm. We’re proud to celebrate our partnership with Food Strong, one of our incredible grantee partners, as they take on a transformational project in Cleveland’s St. Clair/Superior neighborhood. Their vision? Turning an empty lot into a thriving urban farm and food sovereignty hub—a place where fresh, local food is grown for and by the community. With nearly three acres on Superior Avenue, Food Strong is investing in year-round growing operations to ensure that food access is driven by people’s needs, not just market forces. Dear Food Strong Family, In these times of great uncertainty, I want to take a moment to reaffirm Food Strong’s unwavering commitment to justice, unity, and equity. Our mission has always been rooted in the belief that every individual deserves access to nutritious food, opportunities, and the support they need to thrive. This commitment extends to the communities we serve and to our staff, organizational partners, and volunteers who make our work possible. As an organization, we are more dedicated than ever to creating equitable opportunities for all, celebrating our differences, and uniting in the wonderful diversity that makes our country great. We stand firmly against injustice and division and remain a welcoming space for everyone who shares our vision of a fair and sustainable future. Come down to the Farm at Superior and E. 67th on March 24th to get an early look at the property we'll be lovingly restoring over five years into an urban farm and community resource hub. What characteristics and roles are in a positive healthy community and how would they would build their ideal community. We played community bingo with the goal of the students getting to know their fellow community/classmates.
