?? Meet Dr. Krishna Mala Sachdeva—known to many as Dr. Kris—a nutritionist, chef, and the dedicated Site Director leading Food Rescue US - Southwest Florida. Through her leadership, she has built a robust food recovery network, connecting grocery stores, restaurants, food pantries, and volunteers to ensure that surplus food reaches individuals and families in need across the region. Dr. Kris is the first in our new Site Director Profile series. She tells us how she got started, the creative ways she found to build a food recovery network, and the most rewarding part of her day. The stories of Food Rescue US site directors around the country are powerful examples of how one person’s passion can transform a community. Each is different. Each is transformative. ?? A Leader in Reducing Hunger and Food Waste in the US through Food Recovery
关于我们
Food Rescue US is committed to reducing food waste and food insecurity in America by directly transferring fresh, usable food that would have otherwise been thrown away from grocers, restaurants and other food industry sources to food-insecure families throughout the U.S. Food Rescue US is the simple solution to ending local hunger. We are a technology based, volunteer-driven, direct-transfer platform that is simple, sustainable, and replicable. Volunteer food rescuers across the country deliver fresh food from businesses that have too much to people who have too little. Food Rescue US is the only organization in food rescue operating with our unique model.

A beautiful partnership between Food Rescue US - DC, Sodexo USA, Nestlé, and Howard University in the Nation’s Capital. Thank you!
Imagine the warmth and comfort 150 gallons of chicken noodle soup can bring to your community members struggling with food insecurity. On February 7, over 60 dedicated Howard University students and staff teamed up with Sodexo and Nestlé representatives to prepare and donate this incredible amount of soup to area food pantries during a Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation Big Soup event. Over the past four years, Big Soup has been held in 27 communities, and Howard University is the first HBCU and fourth university to host this impactful event. After receiving valuable lessons in food and knife safety from chefs, the volunteers spent four hours cooking before packaging the soup for donation. One-third of the donations went to the on-campus NOURISH HU food pantry, and Food Rescue US distributed the remaining donations through their network. #StopHunger #BigSoup #HowardUniversity #FoodDonation

What a morning of collective pride and teamwork! New Covenant Center opened at 8:00 when St. Bridgett's Church delivered freshly-baked muffins; the Stamford Fish Church's Nancy Winter prepared breakfast with an assist from NCCenter's Linda Williams; Amira from our partner, Food Rescue US - Fairfield County, made a delivery from Trader Joe's with her usual radiant smile; and our weekday Chef, Rene Tellez, greeted each table of guests with a bowl of jalape?os! Our Food Pantry opened as usual at 10:30 with Coordinator Raphael Hilaire welcoming our shoppers along with volunteer Kathy Cahill. New Covenant Center and Catholic Charities are extremely fortunate to have passionate volunteers, community partners and staff! www.newcovenantcenter.org #CommunitySupport / #SnowDay / #EndHunger / #FoodForAll / #VolunteerPower / #NeighborsHelpingNeighbors / #CatholicCharities / #FoodRescue / #Gratitude / #StrongerTogether

After 15 impactful years in Miami’s restaurant scene, Sugarcane Raw Bar Grill has closed its doors—but its commitment to the community continues. In a powerful act of giving back, COO Dana Riccobono partnered with Food Rescue US South Florida, led by Ellen Bowen, to ensure that the restaurant’s surplus food—including their signature bacon-wrapped dates—went back into the community rather than to waste. This week’s food recovery effort was featured by CBS News Miami —check out the full coverage below! Every day, businesses like Sugarcane Raw Bar Grill make a difference by keeping high-quality food out of landfills and redirecting it to communities facing food insecurity.
