We make a wide range of tasty foods, but underneath all that deliciousness, we’re also setting new standards for nutrient density. We came across this article from STAT News, and it hits on something we talk about a lot, ultra-processed foods (UPFs). They dominate the baby food aisle, and parents deserve better. Despite guidelines recommending zero added sugar before age two, many baby foods are packed with it, along with refined fillers, artificial additives, and ingredients designed for shelf-life, not nourishment. So what exactly is an ultra-processed food? UPFs are industrially formulated foods that go through extreme processing, stripping away natural nutrients and replacing them with synthetic additives, flavors, and fillers. They’re designed for convenience (a current day must!!), but at the cost of real nutrition. At FoodNerd, we’re taking a different approach. We’re more than just a baby food company—we’re a food tech company using Nutrient Lock Cold Processing to keep food REAL.
