Food Cooperative at UC San Diego

We are a non-hierarchical, non-profit, student-owned and student-run food cooperative located on the UC San Diego campus. Founded in 1978, our mission is to provide vegan, sustainably sourced, organic, nutritious and inexpensive food to the UC San Diego community. Our biggest operation is to sell hot foods, produce, bulk grains, coffee everyday in our space. Everyday, we strive to serve a selection of Mexican, Indian, American, Italian hot foods like pastas, tamales, burritos, bean curries, samosas. Apart from these, the other things we do are listed below: 1. Catering We cater to UC San Diego student organizations for parties ranging from 10-50 people. Our catering menu is updated quarterly and we do a sumptuous ensemble of appetizers, entrees, salads and desserts. All vegan. 2. Farming and Gardening We own a little plot at the Roger's Garden at UC San Diego where we grow some of our own veggies and herbs. The produce is either used in our own hot foods, or sold off at inexpensive prices to UC San Diego students. 3. Food Activism We lend our space and support many organizations whose values align with ours. Some of these organizations are the G Store Collective, the Food Recovery Network, the Veggie Club and the Student Sustainability Collective.
