We're so proud that our regional director, Kate Colyer, M.A., served on HealthSpark Foundation's advisory POWER Council to build community power!
For the past four months, these community advocates have served as HealthSpark Foundation's advisory POWER Council, helping to inform and shape our foundation's work to build community power through grantmaking, storytelling, and convening. The POWER Council shared their ideas for how funders can grow leadership capacity and build stronger networks among advocacy organizations. They've also provided feedback on how to structure our grant programs, like the Rapid Response Fund and Building Community Power Fund, and our conference agendas, like for our upcoming Building Community Leadership community of practice. As a funder, we are only as effective as our community engagement practices. We're so grateful to our partners who share their talents and wisdom with us and make all of our work so much more impactful, holistic, and grounded. Look for more from this group soon- including a special session on how policymakers, funders, and elected leaders can best support growing advocacy efforts in Montgomery County and beyond.
