Karen Vahey and Ragan Eshelman from South Story Bank & Trust surprised our CEO Michelle Book with flowers and retirement congratulations! Michelle will retire from Food Bank of Iowa at the end of this year. She says, "It's because of partners like Karen and Ragan (along with Steve Laudick, MBA CPA's leadership) that I can leave this organization I love so much knowing finances are well managed and the food bank is adequately prepared for decades of future service to Iowans."

What a tremendous opportunity to visit our friends at Mom's Meals | A Purfoods Company. Emily Kamish, Teresa Roof, APR, Chad and Gilberto took us on a tour of their Ankeny fulfillment center and Grinnell kitchen. It was a privilege to witness this vast operation in action and see their culture at work. Mom's Meals delivers more than a million meals a week across the U.S.! Both of our organizations are focused on improving lives through better nutrition and reducing food insecurity. Mom's Meals is a steadfast partner and donor to Food Bank of Iowa, and we really appreciated the generous gift of their time this week! (Yes, we rocked the hairnets.) Food Bank of Iowa CEO Michelle Book, who has led the state's largest hunger-relief organization for nearly nine years, will retire Dec. 31. The board of directors will launch a national search for Food Bank of Iowa’s next leader.

Reynolds has until this Thursday to accept Summer EBT for 2025. Please call the governor's office at 515-281-5211 and urge her to accept federal dollars to help Iowa children facing hunger.
