THE RESULTS ARE HERE! Last week, our fine team collaborated with PARKER LANE Art & Design Studios at the Loft to bring you the first ever Brush Off Hunger event. This fundraiser was designed to raise hunger awareness by leading participants in a fun painting exercise. After all was said and done, an incredible $4,848.28 was raised for our cause and we couldn't be prouder! Thank you so much to our staff (especially Katie Wisneski and Steve Lamb), our painters, our host and our sponsors. Without you, events like this could not happen. Culver's Restaurants is doing something AMAZING to battle food insecurity! Our friends at E&L Construction Group, Inc. generously decided to volunteer their time today! After sorting through our reclamation line (and processing over 3,100 pounds of food), the crew presented us with a surprise donation of $1,000! Thank you so much to everyone involved. ??????

Last night, our team was humbled and honored to be a part of the Art of Achievement Awards! The Food Bank of Eastern Michigan was one of many nominees in the Nonprofit Impact Award category. The Food Bank of Eastern Michigan is trying something new! Buy candles to benefit the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan and 50% of all sales will be donated back to the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan! The Food Bank has been committed to fighting hunger and working to meet the rising need since it first began as a small grass-roots organization in Genesee County, in 1981. 98% of your contribution goes directly to food and feeding programs. Partnerships with grocers, food manufacturers, and distributors help leverage every dollar into six meals for those in need. Our network of nearly 600 hunger relief partners, such as churches, pantries, schools, shelters, and soup kitchens, serves more than 211,270 people each year, including nearly 57,000 children and over 16,000 senior citizens throughout our 22-county service area. This fundraiser is a great way to get your holiday shopping done, all while supporting the fight to end Food Insecurity in Michigan! With #BrushOffHunger a little over a week away, we'd like to thank our wonderful Outreach team for making this event possible! Through their combined efforts, Katie Wisneski (Outreach Manager) and Steve Lamb (Outreach Coordinator) have put together an amazing evening that's sure to be fun for all. Some of their accomplishments here at the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan are: - Full compliance with agencies: ServSafe, Civil Rights and monitors - Started the Saginaw County Agency Network (We field trip to agencies in the county and include a training each time) - Started agency appreciation events and awards - Successfully delivering all their counties out of the "red zone" - Created very close relationships with community partners and our agencies - Both are ServSafe Manager trained and have trained several groups on ServSafe Want to be a part of #BrushOffHunger?
