Andrew Moore, Director of Plant Operations at Lehigh County Authority, shares how their innovative Waterworks Internship Program is tackling this issue head-on. Designed to attract individuals unfamiliar with the field, the program offers a holistic experience covering plant operations, laboratory skills, and engineering, giving participants a comprehensive understanding of the industry's vital role. The program has already shown promising results, and plans are underway to expand its reach. Andrew underscores the unique pull of water work, noting how professionals who might have never envisioned this career path often find it irreplaceable once they're in, recognizing its essential role in public health and environmental protection. Andrew is an alum of the of the Water Innovation Leadership Development program at Duke University Nicholas School of the Environment and Duke Environment Plus.
