The September issue of the Romben Fan Club Newsletter is out! We talk about pandamonium and spotlight the immigration journey of Alex H! If you’re not already receiving it, send an email to [email protected] Here are the first few paragraphs: The fall season. The return of kids to school. The return of crisp, cooler temperatures. And if you live near the San Diego Zoo, the return of the pandas after a five year hiatus. From 1996 until 2019, “the Zoo” had pandas in residence. (Not the same pandas, apparently a rotating crew of black-and-white cuteness.). And during that time frame, I had been to the Zoo multiple times but never got in the extremely long lines to see the pandas. I never got around to seeing the National Zoo pandas either. And then, there came along a member of my family (not naming names) who is absolutely obsessed with pandas. In February 2024, when it was first announced that the pandas would be coming back, my family went into “panda news alert mode” to find out when the Zoo would allow the hordes of adoring fans to view the pandas. Want the rest? Email me. ;)
