For nearly four decades, the Robert and Margaret Folsom Institute in the Cox School of Business has been the driving force behind real estate education at SMU. Our day-long corporate trek concluded with a visit to Crow Holdings, a nationally renowned real estate investment, development, and management firm. Our SMU students stepped onto the stunning Old Parkland?campus, where Crow Holdings is headquartered, and were immediately captivated by the striking architecture and historic charm—an impression that only deepened as we explored the interiors of the buildings. Chris Odom, Olivia Morales, Nick Brown, Kristin Houpt, and Audrey Hudson provided our students with a VIP experience, leading a private tour across the campus. The group first gathered in the Debate Chamber,?where Crow Holdings' experts shared insights into the firm's diverse real estate portfolio, ongoing development projects, and strategic approach to investing in and shaping communities. After gaining a deeper understanding of why Crow Holdings is one of the most influential real estate firms int eh country,?our guides led us through the Pig Room, the Pecan Room, and Parkland Hall,?where we admired exquisite artwork and reflected on the timeless American ideals that inspire the company’s vision. Our undergraduate SMU students continued their Dallas Corporate Trek with a visit to Fortress Investment Group, a leading global investment manager specializing in credit, real estate, private equity, and capital strategies. During the visit, students gained valuable insight into Fortress’s investment approach and the dynamic work of its key teams. A special thank you to Zubair B. and Jack Loftus from the Corporate Credit team, Jeff Diener, Olin Lancaster, and Ford Parker from the Real Estate Debt team, and Ali Sadri and Claire Chandler from the Equity Real Estate Investing team for sharing their expertise. We were also joined by Co-CEOs Drew McKnight and Joshua Pack, providing students with the opportunity to observe and gain insight into the firm’s leadership. To wrap up the visit, Christen Zellinger, Senior Vice President, put our students’ newfound knowledge to the test with a quiz—rewarding winners with some exclusive Fortress swag!
