Thank you to the thoughtful and engaged healthtech leaders who joined DxD's Ingrid Ellerbe and Kelton Legend's Kimberly Jones, PHR, PMP today for "Addressing Resistance to Equity Efforts in Medtech in 2025." As we discussed, inclusion is not only about gender or race, but dozens of subtle things like color blindness or left handedness. As Apple's Tim Cook said, "Our North Star of dignity and respect for everyone and our work to that end will never waver."

Nature’s Gift: Unlocking the Secrets of the Gut ?? Did you know that your stomach, small intestine, and colon each contract at unique, natural frequencies—just like an FM radio signal? ?? In my conversation with Steve Axelrod, he explains how G-Tech Medical harnesses these signals to track gut motility non-invasively. Thanks to the body's own built-in pacemakers—the interstitial cells of Cajal—his team can filter out noise and decode gut activity with remarkable precision. ?? “Nature has given us this path to do stuff. It’s just up to us to be competent enough to figure out how to get those signals—and, more importantly, turn them into something useful for patients.” This is the kind of breakthrough thinking that is transforming gut health diagnostics. But the real challenge? Translating raw data into life-changing medical insights. ?? Watch this clip from my Drug Diaries conversation with Dr. Axelrod—then catch the full episode via the link in the comments! #GutHealth #WearableTech #MedicalInnovation #GastrointestinalHealth #DigitalHealth #Startups

LSI at Dana Point is always a highlight, with the chance to hang out with people who are much smarter than you. I took full advantage with Hanson Gifford (okay, and Andrew Cleeland!) on our panel about Build-to-Buys. Thank you to Scott Pantel for the great introduction, and for architecting such a wonderful event, and thanks to Hanson and Andrew for the lively and candid discussion. Highlight for me? When I asked what the best deal The Foundry had ever worked on, the answer was Ardian, now Medtronic's renal denervation platform, and the reason was the enormous positive impact the therapy can have for so many patients with uncontrolled hypertension. It's refreshing to remember why we all work so hard to succeed in this market, from VC's to startups to strategics!

While Fogarty Innovation might be best known for its company-in-residence (CIR) program, which provides a multi-year home for startup medtech companies, not everyone needs or is ready for holistic support that spans ideation to delivery.?Fogarty's Company Accelerator Program (CAP) serves a unique niche by supporting startups in later stages, such as Series A or B funding, as they aim to accelerate growth. It provides targeted guidance to help companies navigate specific challenges, such as developing a commercialization strategy or addressing reimbursement hurdles. Unlike CIRs, which are onsite, CAP companies can take a hybrid approach: Ideally, geography permitting, they visit the Fogarty campus to connect with the team before working together virtually. The model’s shorter duration and broader geographic reach allows Fogarty to offer more services to different types of companies—serving a total of 20 since the program’s inception in late 2020. You can learn more about our CAP program from our chief innovation officer Mike Regan, here: https://lnkd.in/g8aK8Tzh
