?? When to Get Technical vs. Keep It Simple ?? In communication, clarity is key.? Here’s when to get technical—and when to keep it plain when building out presentations or proposals: ?? Start with Plain Language: Lead with why your solution matters to the audience—focus on cost savings, efficiency, or mission impact before diving into the details. ?? Get Technical When: Explaining Your "Secret Sauce": If you’re offering something truly unique, share the technical specifics to avoid sounding too “conceptual.” Highlighting Differences from Existing Solutions: Data and comparisons show why your approach is a better choice. Standing Out from Competitors: Metrics like speed, cost-efficiency, or accuracy strengthen your credibility and make your case. ?? Pro Tip: Practice explaining to a non-expert. Their questions will reveal where you need more clarity or detail. Keep your mind on your audience. When you DO get technical, use metrics and terms that make sense to them–these may not be the same ones you measure and lean on internally, do your research!? Think operational readiness vs. mean time between failure. For more details on this topic, check out my latest blog @Auxo:?https://lnkd.in/gkMX8Qwq If this was helpful, please follow and share!

Great topic of conversation from our Sales and Leadership Expert, Ray Reed. Interested to continue the conversation over here and get everyone's thoughts. Has anyone ever chosen you specifically to be a leader for something? What do you think it was that they saw in you that conveyed "leadership material"? Thanks for the question, Ray Reed II ! ??
Led Top-Performing Sales Teams, Understands How to Sustain Exponential Growth, Transforms Sale Teams into Consistent High Achievers, and Coach Leaders to Guide Them Effectively.
I've always been fascinated by leadership's ability to inspire and motivate. This passion deepened during college when I led a small carnival team, learning that effective leadership entails more than task management—it's about prioritizing safety, simplifying complexities, and empowering teams. Not everyone wants to be a leader, but I always did.?Others seem to see something in me that said to them, “this person is leadership material”.?Which reminds me of the question I ask every candidate I hired that said they would like to be a leader, i.e., “When did you realize you were a leader?" Invariably they refer to being selected as the captain of a team in high school or college or a position voted upon by their peers, but I want to know, “When did someone in leadership select you to be a leader”. It’s not that you believe you are a leader, it’s when someone else who is in leadership believes you are leadership material.
