Focused Energy scientist Valeria Ospina Bohórquez and senior scientist Xavier Vaisseau recently co-authored a paper titled, “Scaling and Performance Analysis of Smilei in Hemispherical Foil Target Simulations for Inertial Fusion Energy,” which was published in the Procedia Computer Science Journal. In the paper, the authors: ?? Optimize the particle-in-cell code Smilei for studying different spatial scales of hemispherical targets used to produce and focus energetic proton beams inside compressed Deuterium-Tritium fuel ?? Performed simulations in the VEGA supercomputer, the largest Slovenian supercomputer This paper is part of the 2024 EuroHPC User Day Book of Proceedings. The EuroHPC Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU) is an initiative between the European Union, European countries, and industry partners to develop a World Class Supercomputing Ecosystem in Europe. Participants included: ?Focused Energy, Technische Universit?t Darmstadt, Heraeus, TRUMPF Scientific Lasers, SCHOTT, RWE Power, RWE Nuclear, Siemens Energy, GSI Helmholtz Centre for Heavy Ion Research, and the European Investment Bank (EIB).
