Here's our final Women's History Month highlight: Sasha Conway, Equipment Operator with Utilites and Grounds! Throughout her experience at the airport, Sasha has advanced from equipment operator 1 to 3 and has learned how to become punctual, flexible, and realistic. She now maintains one of the largest irrigation systems on the East Coast. Sasha's role models consist of her parents, as well as coworkers along her career journey. Sasha's advice: "Always have high confidence in your ability to do anything you put your mind to. Surround yourself with role models that can teach you ways to go higher within your company. Trust yourself and trust your talent." Sasha and the Utilities and Grounds team contribute to Team RIC by maintaining airfield and landside landscaping, plowing snow off taxiways and runways, irrigation, and much more. #WomensHistoryMonth

For our next Women's History Month highlight, we're putting a spotlight on Johanna Wheeler, Director of Operations with Delaware North at RIC, Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY), and Tulsa International Airport (TUL). From a young age, Johanna has always wanted to work in the restaurant industry. Her parents owned a small restaurant near a military base in Colorado, which was her first exposure to the industry. She loved serving people and making them happy, and the restaurant industry fulfilled those passions. As Johanna grew older, running an efficient restaurant became her primary focus for professional growth. In 2012, she landed a job at RIC with Delaware North, where she discovered a whole new world in airport concessions. Advice from Johanna: "I would advise any woman in this industry to be confident in asking for what they deserve. I’ve never had a negative experience when I’ve asked for what I felt I was worth based on my experience. I encourage all women to be business-minded, not just for themselves but also for the companies they work for. Also, prioritize taking care of your colleagues. It’s a people-oriented business, so take care of yourself and those under your leadership." Johanna and the Delaware North team strive to offer exceptional food and service to passengers departing from RIC. Thanks for everything you provide to our airport! #WomensHistoryMonth

Richmond International Airport is getting additional service to New York, with Spirit Airlines’ plans for nonstop service to LaGuardia Airport.
