Richmond International Airport is getting additional service to New York, with Spirit Airlines’ plans for nonstop service to LaGuardia Airport. Another Team RIC highlight for Women's History Month is inbound! Get to know Pamela Kelley, Human Capital & Benefits Manager for the Capital Region Airport Commission. Pam's journey to Human Resources hasn’t followed the traditional path that many people associate with the field. She began by leaving the banking industry and came to the airport as the Commission’s receptionist at the Ivor Massey Building. She's always believed that practical experience and a strong passion for people could open doors in any career, and she found that at RIC. Looking back, her journey has been a mix of persistence, learning, and embracing opportunities that allowed her to break into a field in which she thrives and has grown to love. Advice from Pam: "Don’t get caught up in the little things, stay optimistic and do not become distracted from reaching your goals in life. This field is not for the timid; it definitely can be challenging and rewarding at the same time. Continue to have the drive to learn, adapt, and continuously push forward in pursuit of a career in HR." Pam and the Human Capital team contribute to the Commission by supporting employee development, recruiting, employee engagement, and fostering a positive work culture. To celebrate Women's History Month, we're highlighting influential women at RIC! We're kicking things off with Carol Gaddis, Director of Information Technology and Innovation with the Capital Region Airport Commission and current president of The Southeast Chapter of the American Association of Airport Executives. Carol's career did not begin as a direct path into aviation. Prior to working in airports, she worked in the fields of broadcast journalism, educational technology, and multiple roles in healthcare. Her role models growing up were in her home, as well her teachers. Advice from Carol: "Do not be afraid of taking risks. Risks are scary, but well worth the growth.?Do not be distracted by those who are uncomfortable with your light. Shine bright, always seek to help those trying to find their light, then offer a helping hand." Carol and the IT team contribute to Team RIC in a plethora of ways, including managing Commission network operations, flight displays, assisting tenants, and much more. A big shout out to Carol and her team's invaluable behind-the-scenes contributions to RIC! #WomensHistoryMonth
