Through exposure, outreach, education, training scholarships, mentorship, and where needed, advocacy. Fly for the Culture will become a driving force in the effort to expand diversity within the aviation industry and mitigate forecasted pilot shortages.

Folks from the flight deck this is the CAPTAIN speaking?? Never in a million years could I have imagined becoming an AIRLINE CAPTAIN. Lesson learned: always dream bigger! I’m lost for words, I’m overcome with emotion, I’m filled with gratitude. If you have a dream, go chase it: but more important, never let anything or anyone stop you! Since I was a little kid growing up I had big dreams. So far in my life I’ve turned them all into a reality. So blessed to have joined the United Airlines team and cannot wait to see what the future holds. Next step is #ORD flying the B737. Shoutout to my dad for making the trip to Denver and to Max Enis and Zachery Jones for all your help in the process.

This girl from the west side of Chicago has reached the pinnacle of her career, I am a captain at American Airlines! I’m the 7th African American woman captain at American Airlines! In another post I’ll write about the trials and tribulations it took to get here, to hopefully encourage someone to not give up but right now…I want to bask in this moment!

My ??red flag ?? has always been that I see a “No” as a challenge… I can’t tell you how many times I’ve called up my friends and told them I’m done with aviation. This relationship has probably been the most toxic relationship in my life. From rejecting me, isolating me, gaslighting me to just down right breaking me. antouka bon dieu fè tèt mwen di ?? Nearly 16 years ago I took my first flight lesson. This February, I became American Airline’s 6th black female captain in its 97 years of operation.
