PFAS measuring is a critical component of PFAS mitigation and removal. Here are four characteristics of measuring PFAS that allow us to create a healthier world. #pfas #pfasfree #pfasmeasuring #water

I really enjoyed speaking and participating on a panel covering microplastics and PFAS topics at the 2025 Mid-Atlantic Utility Conference hosted by the Chesapeake AWWA. Thank you for allowing me to share my thoughts on a framework highlighting the need for more PFAS measurement options for municipal drinking water plant operations. For those unable to attend and wanted to view it (and while it was still fresh in my head), I re-enacted it and it is now posted for viewing on our Fluorityx YouTube channel. https://lnkd.in/gfrhZqry

Exciting news to share that we are supporting this PFAS Research Project in Colorado.
This week marks the beginning of a 2-year PFAS research pilot project that Kimley-Horn’s Denver Tech Center office was recently awarded. This unique PFAS research project is funded by the STATE OF COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENT (CDPHE) Emerging Contaminants for Small or Disadvantaged Communities Grant Program for the Wigwam Mutual Water District, south of Colorado Springs. The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)'s Office of Research and Development will be separately funding the water quality analysis for the yearlong field testing. The research team will be re-purposing the Bureau of Reclamation funded Pitch-to-Pilot research trailer as described in this recent WRF article (https://lnkd.in/gzZspdxC) but will be modifying the trailer to incorporate other PFAS treatment technologies such as anion exchange resin and granular activated carbon to compare against the electro-coagulation + ceramic ultra-filtration system. The Kimley-Horn team will collaborate with Red Rocks Community College students and teachers in addition to teaming with the country’s top PFAS researchers to provide QA/QC: Mike Mickley, PhD (Mickley and Associates) and Christopher Bellona, PhD (CO School of Mines). Additional thanks to our other teaming partners: PCL Construction, LANXESS, Powell Water Inc. (https://powellwater.com/), CERAFILTEC, Moonshot Missions, Industrial Controls, LLC (https://lnkd.in/gJHgQJiY), Kuraray, Endress+Hauser Group, Fluorityx and Rockwell Automation. ? If in Denver for ACE 2025 next June, feel free to reach out to [email protected] to schedule a tour.

What we are reading: A recent study conducted by the US Geological Survey of tap water samples across the US found that 45% of samples contained detectable levels of PFAS. Check out this article from Emma Loewe from MindBodyGreen blog. https://lnkd.in/geQEJ74u

What we are reading: Select US states are taking a more aggressive position on PFAS chemicals in certain consumer goods. "In total this year, at least 16 states adopted 22 PFAS related measures" according to Safer States, and alliance of environmental health groups focused on toxic chemicals. Check out this article from the New Jersey Monitor: https://lnkd.in/gmrRmEGd
