Sodium Hypochlorite Tank Radar Level Measurement - When a US water treatment service and systems provider needed reliable level measurement of their client’s bleach tanks, they turned to Flowline. The water treatment plant steadily injects sodium hypochlorite into their process, and they contracted to design and install a new chemical tank system. In so, they required non-contact level sensors that are unaffected by corrosive and vaporous media, with integral push button configuration and local displays for their chemical operators to reference. For these reasons, Flowline suggested our 80-GHz radar level sensors that are constructed of PVDF, not attenuated by vapor, and are easy to setup or verify through the integral display module. These were coupled with our level indicators that display in gallons, with 4-20 mA repeater outputs going to the SCADA for inventory management. The radar sensors provide reliable level data to the local displays and SCADA for bleach inventory monitoring and replenishment. Foaming Wastewater Sump Radar Level Measurement - When a US research laboratory needed reliable level measurement of their wastewater collection sumps, they turned to Flowline. The lab develops technologies and processes associated with clean energy systems and their facility generates, treats and recycles up to 50k gallons of wastewater a day. Effluent flows into large underground vaults that temporarily hold the wastewater prior to being pumped into treatment. The waste profile varies depending upon the research of the day, and often foams when certain chemical processes are active. When so, the I&C engineer explained that previous ultrasonic level sensors would become erratic until the foam cleared, and this caused shutdowns. Non-Invasive Chemical Tank Radar Level Measurement - When a California chemical distributor needed reliable non-invasive level measurement of their bulk storage tanks, they turned to Flowline. The firm supplies sanitization chemicals to food and beverage processing companies. Their cleaning products are acidic, chlorine or alkaline based solutions that are highly corrosive, vaporous or foaming. The IC&E engineer explained that they required new level sensors and controllers, and wanted to get away from invasive sensors due to higher failures in their aggressive media. For these reasons, Flowline suggested our EchoBeam 80-GHz radar level sensors that mount on the tank top and reliably measure through the wall, immune to corrosion, vapor and agitated surface foam. Stormwater Run-Off Flume Flow Ultrasonic Level Measurement - When a California municipality needed reliable flow measurement of their stormwater run-off flumes, they turned to Flowline. To retain water that would otherwise go to the ocean, the state’s increasingly diverting highway stormwater into nearby settling ponds to recharge their aquifers. There the I&C engineer had setup several flumes to measure the effectiveness of these programs by comparing the volume of stormwater discharged into the ponds versus their impact on increasing the level height of the aquifers. To do so, he needed a reliable, non-contact level sensor with a small dead band, minimal installation footprint and no display. Chemical Batch Make Up Tank Radar Level Measurement - When a Northeast chemical distributor needed reliable non-invasive level measurement of their batch make up tank, they turned to Flowline. The firm custom blends and distributes water treatment chemicals for chillers. The batches are made in a bulk make up tank which an operator fills to order with a specific blend and amount prior to pumping the batch to the mix tank for completion. There the IC&E engineer needed reliable, non-invasive level measurement, volumetric indication in gallons, and a high level pump shut off to prevent tank overfills. For these reasons, Flowline suggested our 80-GHz radar sensor that measures through the tank wall, coupled with our level controller and NEMA box. Stormwater Pumping Station Radar Level Measurement - When a Caribbean water treatment plant needed reliable level measurement of their stormwater lift stations, they turned to Flowline. Rain varies from daily sprinkles to hurricanes, and the municipality struggles with stormwater management. The I&C engineer explained that their number one failure was float level switches which are susceptible to trash, agitation, tangling and grease. So much so, they had eight float switches in each station for redundancy, but they also needed maintenance. The municipality decided to install reliable non-contact level measurement in each station, and use float switches for backup alarm controls only. For these reasons, Flowline suggested our 80-GHz radar level sensors that are simple to install, easy to configure, and reliably measure stormwater lift stations, canals and reservoirs. School Heating Oil Bulk Tank Ultrasonic Level Measurement - When a Nova Scotia elementary school needed reliable level measurement of their heating oil tanks, they turned to Flowline. With an average winter temperature of -2o C., school classrooms are heated via forced air furnaces. Each burner is fueled by a 500-gallon heating oil tank that’s truck refilled on a regular basis. The previous float level switches would often stick and required ongoing maintenance. This led to oil outages, cold students and angry parents. A system integrator was hired to replace the switches with reliable non-contact measurement, and push the tank data to a cloud for supplier and staff visibility. Drinking Water Holding Tank Radar Level Measurement - When a Puerto Rican municipality needed reliable level measurement of their drinking water holding tank, they turned to Flowline. The below grade wet well is a large reservoir that holds drinking water during the final chlorination stage of treatment. A triplex pump system transfers the water from the well to the distribution system. The IC&E engineer needed a reliable non-contact level sensor that’s unaffected by condensation, turbulence or a fast rate of level change during fill or empty. He also required an IP68 rating as the area is frequently besieged with storms and periodic flooding.
