Flow Aluminum is a high performance 500 Wh/kg battery that uses aluminum instead of lithium and intakes CO2 instead of using cobalt and nickel. The aluminum is 100% recycled creating the ultimate green battery. The battery functions as direct air capture in that it intakes CO2 and is not flammable. A recent report highlights a shift in consumer preferences, with hybrid vehicles gaining traction as EV demand wanes. #WhyThisMatters: 1. Consumer Hesitation: Concerns about charging infrastructure and range anxiety are pushing buyers towards hybrids. 2. Economic Factors: Higher interest rates and reduced incentives are making EVs less attractive financially. 3.     A major milestone is the culmination of many incremental advancements. Oftentimes the importance of a milestone is hard to convey: In this instance, taking data from scientific research as part of a PhD thesis in a university, and translating it into a real-world form factor demonstrates that the fundamental Al-CO2 chemistry can be commercialized. We're on a mission to ween stationary energy storage off scarce minerals and liberate the industry from its reliance on the Li-ion supply chain. One step at a time.

We're thrilled to share that Flow Aluminum's innovative aluminum-CO2 battery technology has made a major leap forward, having successfully completed a critical testing phase at the prestigious The Battery Innovation Center (BIC). These results confirm the technology's viability in commercial cell architecture, bringing us one step closer to revolutionizing energy storage with a high-performance, cost-effective alternative to traditional batteries. Brett Allen, a Battery Engineer at the Battery Innovation Center in Indiana, stated, "The Aluminum-CO2 [Single Layer Pouch] cell can attain an experimental specific discharge capacity of ~1500 mAh/g_carbon with a stable voltage curve, which is staggering when compared against theoretical capacities of other battery chemistries actively being developed such as lithium ion, sodium, or potassium." This achievement underscores the immense potential of Aluminum-CO2 technology in the future of battery development. Our company CEO, Thomas Chepucavage, remarked, "The progress we've made at the Battery Innovation Center is a significant step forward for Flow Aluminum. Thanks to our CTO, Dr. Olaf Conrad, our team, and BIC, we now have a clear path to refine and optimize our technology roadmap, bringing us closer to delivering an aluminum battery that will innovate energy storage applications." After conducting 12 experiments at BIC, the final four demonstrated full discharge and half charge cycles in our pouch cell configuration. These results validate our approach and mark the beginning of a new era in metal-gas batteries. We want to extend a special thanks to our partner BIC and all the brilliant minds working alongside us to push the boundaries of what's achievable in energy storage! Carbon Cathode: Our carbon cathode costs just a tenth of a typical Lithium/Nickel/Cobalt/Manganese cathode. ?? Aluminum Anode: Aluminum, being significantly more affordable than graphite, offers raw material savings of 2-3 times less in cost. ?? Electrolyte Innovation: Through our research with urea, we have the potential to reduce electrolyte costs to a tenth of traditional options. While manufacturing costs remain a key factor, we believe that within the next 5 years, we can establish a fully automated and globally competitive manufacturing plant right here in New Mexico.
