Florida Sea Grant’s mission is to support integrated research, education, communication and extension to enhance the responsible use and conservation of coastal and marine resources to create a sustainable economy and environment. Based at the University of Florida, Florida Sea Grant is part of the National Sea Grant College Program. The Sea Grant College Program is a national network of 32 programs dedicated to serving citizens in coastal communities throughout the United States. From Oct. 28-31, 2024, the first-ever Flooding Adaptation Symposium in Kissimmee, FL, brought together over 120 experts to tackle the critical issue of flooding in Florida’s coastal and inland areas. Meet Florida Sea Grant Water Quality Protection Program Coordinator Genevieve Schave. In her position, Genevieve expands communications and outreach efforts while maintaining the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Quality Assurance standards in association with the FDEP’s Aquatic Preserves Program and the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary.?? ?? We recently asked Genevieve what the most fun part of her job is, and she replied: “The most fun part of my job is working in such a unique and special place that I've had a connection with since I was a kid. From getting to work outdoors and in numerous partnerships, to opportunities for learning and growth, there is never a dull moment”!
