@Matthew Hamel, a Florida Medallion Scholars Award recipient, is today’s #BrightFuturesFriday featured student. Matthew is a fresh face at Tallahassee State College, where he is pursuing a degree in Nursing and aims to graduate in 2027. He’s already been recognized for his academic excellence and has maintained a strong 3.53 GPA which has kept him on the Dean’s List. In 2023, he received two awards for his outstanding academic performance: one from Take Stock in Children and another from the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Big Bend. Matthew’s dedication to his studies has also earned him invitations to join the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) and the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. Beyond academics, Matthew’s passion for music shines. He spends his free time creating music with his brother in their duo, “Seven7h Way.” Whether it’s playing piano, guitar, bass, or drums, he channels his love for music into something meaningful and creative when he’s out of the classroom. Sarah Nguyen, a Florida Academic Scholars Award recipient, is today’s #BrightFuturesFriday featured student. Sarah is a proud Gator at the University of Florida, where she is pursuing a degree in Biochemistry. Set to graduate in 2026, she has already made the Dean’s List in her first few semesters, displaying her dedicated balance to her studies and her college life. When she’s not hitting the books, Sarah is getting involved in her campus community, as she is also a UF cheerleader. Moreover, Sarah was selected to join a prestigious medical shadowing program, where she can gain hands-on experience as she aims to break into the field of biomedical science. Her commitment to her studies and her involvement on campus exemplifies her consistency in excelling both academically and professionally within her chosen field. Corey Conzett, a Florida Academic Scholars Award recipient, is today's #BrightFuturesFriday featured student. Corey epitomizes dedication and excellence across multiple fields. In his early years, he was named one of the top baseball players in the country at age 12. He was a well-decorated athlete in his arena, earning awards, including the USSSA Player of the Year award several times and a Silver Medal with Team U.S.A. Baseball before he shifted his focus to academics at age 14. By 16, he excelled in dual enrollment classes at the University of Florida and Valencia College, earning his high school diploma with a perfect 4.0 GPA and 54 college credits. Corey's academic achievements led to a summer internship at Columbia University's Fu Foundation School of Engineering, where he contributed significantly to a Hurricane Irma project. In his senior year, he was named to the Phi Theta Kappa All-Florida Academic Team for his community service and academic excellence. Beyond academics, Corey profoundly impacted the pandemic by expanding a Discord forum to support over 2,000 transitioning online students, earning a Yale Bassett Award nomination. He also served as a CoCoRaHS station operator, providing the National Weather Service with critical precipitation data. Since 2018, he has served as the Archive Manager of Baseball Digest Magazine and helped it maintain operations by opening its digital library to the public—a strategic move that brought in thousands of fans and provided solace during the challenging times of the pandemic. In December 2023, Corey graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Florida, holding a 3.94 GPA. He has interned at the Florida Applied Research in Engineering (FLARE) lab at the University of Florida, where he plans to further his education in pursuit of a Ph.D. starting January 2025. Allison Chavez, a Florida Medallion Scholars Award recipient, is today's #BrightFuturesFriday featured student. Among other scholarships, Allison earned her Bright Futures Scholarship while attending Tallahassee Community College before transferring to Florida State University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in English: Editing, Writing, and Media in 2017. She is currently the Associate State Director of AARP Florida, leading communications efforts in Tallahassee and across the state. Recognized for her exceptional work, Allison received the Ragan Communications Rising Star Award. Her achievements demonstrate the significant impact she has made in her field. Isabella Guerrero, a Florida Medallion Scholars Award recipient, is today’s #BrightFuturesFriday featured student. Isabella is set to graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Florida State University in 2025. With a cumulative GPA of 3.7, Isabella has demonstrated academic excellence while balancing her role as a Patient Care Assistant at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital (TMH). Her commitment to patient care began with her volunteer work at the TMH rehabilitation center, where she gained valuable experience and a deep passion for nursing. In addition to her academic and professional achievements, Isabella is actively involved in her community. She recently had the honor of singing the National Anthem at an FSU baseball game. Kersti G. Myles, a Florida Academic Scholars Award recipient, is today's #BrightFuturesFriday featured student. Kersti is a distinguished alumna of the University of Central Florida (UCF) and exemplifies leadership and commitment to her alma mater. Graduating in 2010 with her Bachelor of Science in political science, Kersti made significant contributions to the UCF community through various avenues, including her role as the Director of the SGA Diversity and Initiatives and the Program Director at the Multicultural Student Center. In addition to her administrative roles, Kersti served as a UCF Orientation Team Leader and Resident Assistant. As an Orientation Team Leader, she was crucial in welcoming new students and helping them acclimate to university life, fostering a sense of community from the beginning of their academic journeys. Her commitment to student welfare extended throughout her role as a Resident Assistant.???????? ?? Kersti's exceptional leadership and dedication during her undergraduate years laid a strong foundation for her subsequent career in law.
