?? Action Alert! ?? Florida Forever is the state’s premier land conservation program, but it lacks the funding needed to conserve the 2.1 million acres prioritized to preserve wildlife corridors, protect water quality, and ensure access to recreational spaces. We’re encouraged by recent efforts to protect public lands, so let’s keep the momentum going! Urge your legislators to allocate $500 million to Florida Forever this year to protect these acres from development and preserve Florida's unique ecosystems. Why Florida Forever matters: ?? Protects endangered species like the Florida panther & scrub-jay ?? Restores wetlands & springs for cleaner water & increased flood resilience ?? Expands public lands for recreation & boosts local economies ?? Take action today to keep Florida wild: https://lnkd.in/d2bpZsea #FundFloridaForever #FloridaForever #FloridaWildlifeFederation #FWF #KeepFloridaWild #KeepFLWild #WildFlorida #FloridaWildlife #FloridaConservation #LandConservation

As the Florida Legislative Session kicks off on March 4, our second priority is:? Defend Public Lands ??? Florida’s public lands belong to all of us—but recent proposals threaten their integrity. We’re advocating for legislation that prohibits harmful development in state parks and conservation lands, while keeping our eyes on any policies that would result in the loss or transfer of conservation land and the erosion of the public, transparent process for the surplus of conservation land. State parks and wildlife habitats should be places for nature and people to thrive, not sites for commercial development. Let’s stand up for the lands that make Florida special! ?? Land conservation news: Florida Wildlife Federation is proud to announce the transfer of a coastal parcel in Crescent Beach to Putnam Land Conservancy, ensuring it will be permanently protected from development. The Florida Wildlife Federation was proud to be part of the 2025 Springs Summit, hosted by the Florida Springs Council! Conservationists from across Florida came together to discuss the future of our iconic springs. The day was packed with insightful discussions on the past, present, and future of Florida’s waterways—diving deep into policy, legal strategies, advocacy, and responsible recreation. ? A special highlight was the live “Madcaps Spectacular” podcast recording featuring our own Federico Acevedo, spotlighting what makes Florida’s state parks so special and how Floridians came together last year to halt proposed developments within them. ? Connecting with our friends across the state and hearing firsthand about the challenges and victories in springs conservation reinforced the power of storytelling and collective action to drive action. Together, we can ensure a future where Florida’s natural spaces like springs remain vibrant and protected for generations to come! #FloridaSpringsSummit #FloridaWildlifeFederation #FWF #KeepFloridaWild #KeepFLWild #WildFlorida #FloridaWildlife #FloridaConservation #SpringsAdvocacy #SpringsConservation #FloridaSprings

The Florida Legislative Session starts on March 4, and we’re pushing for bold conservation action. Our first priority: Fund Conservation ?? Florida is losing natural lands at an alarming rate due to rapid development. To safeguard our most ecologically-sensitive areas, we’re calling on legislators to allocate at least $500 million from the Land Acquisition Trust Fund to the Florida Forever program. This critical funding helps conserve vital habitats, protect water resources, and ensure future generations can enjoy Florida’s natural beauty. Conservation is an investment in Florida’s future. Let’s make it a priority. ???? Last month we gathered in Palatka for our first Board of Directors meeting of the year—an opportunity to reflect on our conservation efforts and set priorities for the future. On January 25, 2016, our Board and team took a photo holding signs advocating for public lands and state parks. On January 25, 2025, protecting Florida’s public lands remains one of our top priorities. So, to honor our ongoing commitment, we recreated that powerful moment and stood together once again to show that our efforts have never wavered. A highlight of the meeting was visiting the Rodman Dam and Ocklawaha River, a place central to our fight for restoring Florida’s natural waters. It was a meaningful opportunity to reflect on past progress and the work still ahead. ?? Photo 1: Ravine Gardens State Park (2025) ?? Through her leadership, thousands of advocates were mobilized to protect our renowned state parks and vital conservation lands. This recognition highlights her tireless efforts to engage communities in the fight for Everglades restoration and beyond. In addition to this well-deserved honor, Casey also moderated an inspiring panel discussion on land conservation and its role in creating wildlife corridors. The discussion explored how policy, funding, and public advocacy can work together to safeguard these irreplaceable ecosystems.
