Wishing everyone a fun and safe Halloween! Reminder Safety Tips: -Use glow sticks or battery-operated candles for jack-o’-lanterns and other Halloween decorations. -When choosing costumes, stay away from long trailing fabric. -Provide children with flashlights to carry for lighting or glow sticks as part of their costume. -Teach children to stay away from open flames, including jack-o’-lanterns with candles in them. -Keep Halloween decorations away from open flames and other heat sources, such as light bulbs and heaters. -Remember to keep exits clear of decorations so nothing blocks escape routes. -Make sure all smoke alarms are working.???

Our President, Tonya Herbert, was a presenter yesterday at the Fire Industry Education Resource Organization (F.I.E.R.O.) Regional Fire PPE Workshop at the Kansas City Kansas Fire Dept. Her presentation “How Do I Comply With NFPA 1851? Let Me Count the Ways!” discusses the various ways your department can meet the standard. From utilizing an ISP for all gear cleaning and maintenance to a department becoming a Verified Organization allowing it to make its own repairs, and everything in between, there are SO many options. Thank you to FIERO for putting this event together and Kansas City, Kansas Fire Department and IFE for sponsoring.
