In the 2024 Survey Report: Hospital Investments that Build and Sustain the Health Care Workforce, we found the top three strategies used by hospitals that participated in the survey to support academic partners in meeting clinical requirements: Preceptors (79%); Expansion of clinical placement hours (61%); and Shared staff/faculty (39%) These findings are a testament to the strength of regional partnerships for our Florida hospitals. Among the hospitals that participated in our 2024 Survey Report: Hospital Investments that Build and Sustain the Health Care Workforce, a total of 503 community scholarships were offered. Hospitals also offered 16 grants for local academic programs. Professional development resources are integral to enhancing overall support for the health care workforce. Mary Mayhew

Rural Communities, HB 1427 — a bill focused on expanding health care services in rural areas statewide — was presented yesterday afternoon in the House Commerce Committee for its first hearing and received overwhelming support from key stakeholders and legislators. Findings from the 2024 Survey Report: Hospital Investments that Build and Sustain the Health Care Workforce, based on data from responding hospitals, indicate the top three recruitment and retention strategies: Critical staffing and shift incentives (82%); Strategies to improve employee satisfaction (71%) and Internal staffing pools (50%). These efforts are key to the long-term strength of our health care workforce. Mary Mayhew

Of the hospitals that participated in our 2024 Hospital Investments that Build and Sustain the Health Care Workforce survey, the top three educational and professional benefits they offered include tuition assistance (89.3%), nurse residency programs (78.6%) and a tie between Earn While You Learn Programs and Student Externships (46.4%). 30,775 employees benefited from the programs offered by these Florida hospitals in 2024.
