    How do you stay up on competition? ?? A passive yet practical guide to small business market research: 1. Start a new social media account on platform of choice. Only engage with relevant content, keep your algo “clean”. 2. Start receiving relevant ads to competitor lead magnets. ?? *hot tip* start a freebie / sign up email to send everything to. 3. Observe and digest. Then keep track of all the really good, really high value freebies to reference later. *Industry reports from reputable resources are gold for social media statistics and quotes.* 4. Pay attention to how they feed you into their sales pipeline, their offerings, their onboarding welcome journey, etc. 5. Take the little nuggets away and apply as you see fit. But most importantly, figure out ways to smash the status quo and differentiate yourself! How can you do it better? ?? How do you conduct market research? I’m deep in it myself right now.     Creativity is peeling back the layers to help others see something that only you can see. And that is scary because people judge things they don’t understand. I recently learned of Ernest Becker’s book “The Denial of Death” where he likens creativity to a useful sort of schizophrenia. That scared me and made so much sense at the same time. Creativity requires a suspension of belief and reality at times. But it takes a courageous act to bring that spark back into the reality that you share with others. It can feel like showing up naked to an auditorium full of people. And that is what I believe gets people to say “wow, that is so cool.” Yes, because you probably did make or do something cool, but perhaps what they’re really saying is “I wish I had the courage to be creative like that” Creativity doesn’t have to be grandiose, start small. Creativity begets more creativity. It’s a spark that ignites and endless flame if you let it. Even if you disrupt the status quo by suggesting a new and creative approach to a business problem or a design, or suggest a new idea to a group project, just remember that creativity takes courage. And that in itself is something to celebrate.
