In 1999, Ron Ward leveraged his extensive experience as a journeyman installer and flooring sales professional to establish his own premier flooring destination, Rug Rat Flooring America. Now operated by his son, Shane Ward, the company has served Chubbuck, Idaho, and surrounding communities with remodels, new construction, and residential and commercial installations ever since. The name "Rug Rat" stems from Ron's experience working alongside fellow installers, who referred to themselves as "rug rats" while installing carpet; a playful nod to camaraderie but also a reflection of The Ward's deep roots in the trade and their community. Shane chimes in on Flooring America's role in their long-term success, saying, "The co-op was a great thing for us when we joined. It helped us gain some direction and opened us up to many opportunities, programs, and pricing that we hadn't had previously. I love the network we have for both business ideas and camaraderie; it was one of the better decisions we've made as a business.
