Maribel, a dedicated tufting machine operator for 16 years, received life-altering news in October 2022 - she had Grade 3 breast cancer. In an instant, her world shifted from routine and stability to a whirlwind of treatments, medical appointments, and countless unknowns. Yet, through this difficult journey, Maribel has found strength and resilience in her faith, her family, and her community. Thanks to a grant from FCIF, Maribel received crucial financial support to help with her mortgage, utilities, food, and medical care. With this assistance, she could focus on healing without the overwhelming burden of financial strain. Her story is a testament to the power of a helping hand when it's needed most, and to the support of an industry that cares deeply for its people. "I can truly say I would not have been able to move forward without [FCIF's] help," she shared. William, a 22-year veteran of the flooring industry, has worked as a picker operator, compound operator, color tech, and lab coordinator. In 2012, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer and, thankfully, remains in remission. But in June 2021, William faced a new health challenge that causes severe shortness of breath with even minimal activity. With frequent doctor visits and rising medical bills, he and his wife, Kellie, were uncertain about how they’d manage financially. Thanks to grant from FCIF, William’s family received essential support for medical and household expenses. This assistance has lifted a tremendous weight.
