This past Sunday, 26 February, the Flood's Floundering Flighters Team took to the stairs of the Hancock on their annual trip into the clouds, raising money to combat lung disease. 7 climbers came out (2 of which were first-timers!) and did great! Thanks to everyone for their support this year and in years past - there is still time to help us in our mission to raise at least $6,500 for the cause this year. And come out and join us next February when we do it again! https://lnkd.in/gxjV3eWD

Construction Materials Testing and Inspection since 1913
关于我们
Flood Testing Labs, Inc. is a family-owned full service construction materials testing and inspection company in Chicago. Founded by Walter H Flood in 1913 in response to a desire for more structural oversight and safety in the Chicago market, Flood Testing has weathered the Great Depression, two World Wars, a family schism, and come out the other side as one of the most respected and most highly certified testing labs in the Midwest and the United States as a whole. The company was highly involved in the development of high-strength concrete in the 1960s and 70s and likes to remain on the cutting edge of construction technology and implementation. As such, FTL was among the first two labs nationally to submit itself to (and pass) the rigorous review of ISO 17025 certification through AMRL. Flood Testing's field technicians are highly skilled and certified and prove to be an asset on any forward-thinking project they find themselves. In recent years, FTL has focused on International Building Code work and has created a culture of ICC certification among its staff. Flood Testing specializes in construction inspection and geotechnical design in the Chicago market, but performs consulting and specialty work worldwide. FTL principals recently consulted on and assisted with the design of the concrete mix for the reflecting pool on the National Mall. FTL also provided concrete mix design work for the South Bay Ocean Outfall, an OPAL award recipient, in San Diego. FTL's Building Envelope Consulting division has been growing! We also specialize in roofing waterproofing and exterior walls. From forensics to moisture surveys to inspections during construction, FTL can assist with any aspect of the building envelope. We have experience in a multitude of systems throughout the US. As an independent, third-party consultant, we can ensure a proactive vs. reactive approach toward roofing, waterproofing and exterior walls.

We've raised over $80,000 since then! Help support us as the Team does it again on 23 February, racing up 94 flights to fight Lung Disease and ailments! Go Flighters! (We'd love to have you climb with us next year, too!) https://lnkd.in/gs9g3wxn

It has already been a big day at CTA’s Damen Green Line Project! This morning, F.H. Paschen brought in 2 massive cranes to lift the assembled pedestrian bridge that links the north and south sides of the tracks into place. The structure’s complex tubular T-Y-K connections required special oversight, in addition to the more typical bolting, welding, and coatings review to make sure the structure is safe and durable throughout its life. FTL’s expert team of steel inspectors has been working at the shop and in the field to help prepare for this moment for more than a year. Special kudos goes to FTL’s structural steel program director, Michael Chiappetta , for all of his hard work and creative problem solving on the project. Congratulations to the whole team on the success of a major milestone! The finish line ahead of this summer’s DNC at the United Center is in sight!
