The mission of the Florida LTAP Center is guided by the focus areas as directed by FHWA (Safety, Infrastructure Management, Workforce Development, and Organizational Excellence), and attention to each is vital to the success of the Florida LTAP. The mission of the Florida LTAP Center is to improve the skills and increase knowledge of the local and tribal transportation workforce through training, technical assistance, and technology transfer to foster a safe, efficient, and environmentally-sound surface transportation system. The vision of the Florida LTAP Center is to be recognized as a premier resource in providing training and technical assistance to local agencies and transferring innovative technologies, proven solutions, and reliable service to successfully address and meet the needs of local transportation communities in Florida. The Florida LTAP Center is part of a national initiative to transfer transportation technology through training, technical assistance, and other customer services to local governments and metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs). Since July 2018, oversight of the Florida LTAP has transitioned to the Center for Urban Transportation Research (CUTR) at the University of South Florida and continues to serve local agencies throughout the state by providing state-of-the-art training, technical assistance, and other types of support.

FREE WEBINAR & PDHs This webinar series is brought to you by Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) through the Florida LTAP Center. SRTS is a statewide program, funded by FDOT, whose goal is to make it safer for more children to walk and bike to school. In this webinar, we will talk about the purpose of data collection for a Safe Routes to School program and we will provide an overview of the data available to analyze walking and bicycle usage, safety, and infrastructure. Attendees will learn about interactive mapping tools, GIS, and other online portals that can help provide the information needed to develop policy campaigns, grant applications, or other proposals to advance Safe Routes to School in Florida. Attendees will also learn strategies for working with local government and other agencies. What you’ll learn: ? Describe the purpose of data collection. ? Identify the various tools used for data collection and how they apply towards infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects. ? Identify Florida’s best practices as a result of data collection used for Safe Routes to School projects. ? Identify resources that will help with data collection towards proposals and future projects. ?
