  • Equity isn’t a destination—it’s an ongoing practice. At Flight Design Co., we’ve spent years integrating equity into how we work, from the clients we support to the way we structure our pricing. With so many businesses walking back their DEI commitments, we believe it’s more important than ever to share what this work looks like in practice. In Ariana Wolf's latest article, she talks about how we approach equity in business and why small businesses have a unique opportunity to lead. #EquityInBusiness #ValuesDrivenWork #EthicalBusiness #BusinessForGood #EquityInAction

"Design is not neutral. Business is not neutral. Every choice we make either upholds or dismantles the status quo." For years, I worried that talking about our equity practices might come off as performative—or worse, center myself in work that isn’t about me. But as we see companies rolling back DEI commitments and progress being reframed as unnecessary (or even harmful), I’ve realized that staying quiet is its own kind of privilege. In this article, I share how we at Flight Design Co. built equity into our business from the start—what that looks like in practice and why it matters now more than ever. If you’re thinking about what equity looks like in your own work, I’d love to hear your thoughts. It’s an ongoing practice—one that evolves, challenges us, and keeps us accountable to the world we want to help build. #EquityInBusiness #InclusiveEconomy #SocialImpact #SmallBusinessLeadership

Immigrants are the heart of small businesses across the country—their contributions, creativity, and resilience shape our communities and economies in countless ways. • At FDCo, we’ve been using adjective goals as a guiding framework for growth since the very beginning. This approach has allowed us to scale in a way that stays true to how we want to feel as a team. Each year, we revisit and refine these goals to ensure they reflect our evolving vision. This year, our adjective goals are: ? Ease, Trust, Stable/Rooted, Connected, Joy, and Purpose ? We foster trust within our team, cultivate ease in our operations, and build a foundation of financial stability and consistency, all while nurturing a joyful workplace filled with connection and purpose. We’re so glad Ariana wrote this article to share this powerful practice with all of you. • We’re so thrilled to celebrate Elizabeth Weingarten and the upcoming release of her book How to Fall in Love with Questions! ?? We had the privilege of designing her brand, website, and even a very cool question map graphic featured in the book—and it’s been such an honor to support her. What do you do when you’re faced with a big, daunting question that keeps you up at night? Questions like –?will my job be relevant in five years? What should I do with my life? Or even –?how do I find a sense of self-worth outside of work? For many of us, the instinct is to grab hold of answers from “experts,” influencers, or self-proclaimed gurus. While these quick fixes can feel comforting in the moment, they often fall short—and can even create more frustration and pain. But what if our questions—the ones about relationships, work, identity, meaning, and purpose—aren’t our tormentors, but our teachers? My new book, How to Fall in Love with Questions: A New Way to Thrive in Times of Uncertainty (HarperOne, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers, April 15, 2025), reimagines our relationship with life’s hardest, unanswerable questions. Inspired by timeless advice from Austrian poet Rainer Maria Rilke and grounded in modern science, the book offers a new approach for navigating uncertainty. Inside, you’ll discover: ? Why we crave certainty—and how our culture amplifies this desire ? The science of living differently with uncertainty and stories of those who’ve done it ? Practical tools to create your own “questions practice” to navigate life’s uncertainties If this resonates with you, pre-orders are now open (link in the comments below), and it would mean so much if you ordered a copy. (Pre-ordering the book improves bookstore distribution and visibility). And I’d love to hear from you: What’s the biggest question you’re living with right now? Special thanks to my early readers of the book – Daniel Pink, Adam Grant, Brigid Schulte, Christopher M. Schroeder and Barry Schwartz.

  • Kicking off 2025 with immense gratitude for our clients, collaborators, and friends who made 2024 so meaningful. ??? This past year was filled with incredible projects for purpose-driven companies, but it’s the relationships we’ve fostered along the way that truly stand out. In honor of those connections and aligned with our values, we’ve made a donation to one of our cherished causes— First Place For Youth —as a way to give back and start the year with purpose. Here’s to an inspiring 2025, filled with even more creativity, connection, and collaboration. Let’s make it another unforgettable year! ??

As we enter into the holiday season we at Flight Design Co really feel the power of community and connection. That’s why our founder, Ariana Wolf, co-created Changing the Shape of Business (CTSB), a local Bay Area group dedicated to self-employed visionaries, with Luisa Alberto. Every month, this group of remarkable humans gathers to share their journeys—the highs, the challenges, and everything in between. It’s a space filled with open hearts, support, and inspiration. Over the past year and a half, CTSOB has grown in the most delightful and organic ways. Watching members celebrate successes, lean into challenges, and support one another reminds us just how powerful, creative, and magical people can be when they come together. Here’s a snapshot from our latest gathering—proof that connection changes everything. ?? To the incredible CTS0B collective: here’s to more shared wisdom, heartfelt moments, and whatever exciting horizons lie ahead! We are so grateful. Lindsay T.
