After 286 days in space, having traveled 121,347,491 miles during their mission and completed 4,576 orbits around Earth, #NASA astronauts Suni Williams, and Butch Wilmore have returned to Earth. Williams and Wilmore, along with the rest of NASA’s SpaceX Crew-9 splashed down in the Gulf of Mexico, just off the coast of Tallahassee, Florida on March 18th. ??? A friend encouraged me to share my work here, and from that moment, it became my creative home. Unlike other platforms, Flickr has always felt like a true space for photographers—an inspiring community where artistry comes first, not trends or influencers. Flickr and Black Women Photographers are joining forces for round three of our groundbreaking grant! ?? We’re excited to announce a $5,000 grant in partnership with Black Women Photographers, which will be awarded to a member of these communities to further their craft. ?? Founded by Polly Irungu and launched in July 2020, Black Women Photographers (BWP) is a global community, directory, and hub of over 2,100 Black and African women creatives spanning 60+ countries and 35+ U.S. states. The selected recipient will receive a $5,000 grant, a two-year #FlickrPro membership, and a one-year SmugMug Pro membership. In addition, ten more recipients will receive a one-year Flickr Pro membership and a one-year #SmugMug Pro membership. ? This year’s theme: “The Spaces We Occupy” chosen by Genesis Falls. Alaska’s D-1 Lands are some of America’s wildest, most biologically valuable public lands—28 million acres of untouched landscapes that sustain iconic wildlife, fuel a $3.1 billion outdoor recreation economy, and support over 21,000 jobs. From Bristol Bay’s salmon runs to the Western Arctic’s caribou herds, these lands are vital to Alaska’s way of life. Opening them to industrial development would have irreversible impacts on wildlife, communities, and recreation. Secretary of the Interior Burgum has the power to ensure that doesn’t happen.
