Meet Sam, our GIS expert who loves uncovering hidden gems from the past as part of his role! “I am constantly reviewing old records, imagery, etc. to help me develop a community's GIS. Sometimes, this leads me down a fun rabbit hole where I find interesting details or pictures about the communities we work with,” he said. ? While working on Lake County data, Sam stumbled upon the Village of Marlborough, founded in 1902 by the Great Northern Portland Cement Co. The village may be long gone, but its cement remnants still show up in aerial images today! ? Sam also digs into history with cemetery projects, like the Fairview Cemetery. During research, Sam found a 1900’s photo and couldn’t resist capturing a comparison shot of the site today. #GISDay

F&V joined the Village of Vermontville on Tuesday for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the community's newly updated park. The improvements include a new playground structure, safety fall zones with rubber mulch, an all-season restroom, and a drinking fountain. F&V is proud to have assisted with grant funding and the design of the project. We hope the community enjoys the space for many years to come.

Yesterday was all about giving back to our communities! In Grand Rapids, our team donated supplies and packed Sack Suppers for Kids' Food Basket. Meanwhile, our Traverse City staff rolled up their sleeves to volunteer at Habitat for Humanity in Cadillac as well as raise funds for REINING LIBERTY RANCH! Finally, our Midland office raised money for the Foster Families & Resource Center in Bay City. Great job on #WeCareWednesday, team! Together, we're making a difference! ?
