No one offers communities a stronger dam-building team. Period. In just the latest example, Aurora Water selected Flatiron Dragados and joint venture partner Sukut to deliver the preconstruction services phase for the future Wild Horse Reservoir project in Park County. Aurora is known for its highly successful water conservation programs. Our innovative team is a perfect match for such a forward-thinking partner. We caught up with Vice President of Project Development Brian Gettinger, who talked about our unique strengths in the dam market – especially with collaborative delivery methods. #TransformingInfrastructure #FlatironProject #WaterInfrastructure #Sustainability #AuroraColorado

Weekend closures on the I-405 Renton to Bellevue widening and Express Toll Lanes in Washington made major progress in infrastructure improvements and environmental sustainability. Flatiron and joint venture partner The Lane Construction Corporation shifted southbound traffic onto the newly built Coal Creek Parkway bridge, completed essential drainage crossings and installed critical expansion joints. The standout achievement? Setting a 188-foot-long fish passage to assist local fish populations' free movement throughout their life cycles. To achieve this milestone, crews excavated a 37-foot-deep trench across all northbound lanes, demolished existing asphalt, removed 15,000 cubic yards of material, set precast boxes, added streambed material, backfilled and repaved. All this work was completed ahead of Monday morning rush hour! Washington State Department of Transportation #TransformingInfrastructure #FlatironProject #Sustainability

While our sustainability goals are focused on big targets at our projects, we believe that every person can make a difference. Belinda Heater, Senior Project Office Manager in Houston is doing just that. “I’m always looking to for innovative ways to implement sustainable practices in the workplace,” says Belinda. Since earning her LEED Green Associate certification in 2012, Belinda has been a sustainability champion. Earlier this year, she launched a recycling initiative at our Houston office, providing every employee with recycled containers and clear guidelines on what can be recycled. The result? An impressive 2,301.79 pounds of recyclable materials collected—including cans, bottles, paper and cardboard! Their monthly recycling efforts are being tracked using an innovative calculator developed by Project Engineer Kyle Smith. Belinda’s commitment to sustainability extends beyond the workplace; she hopes to inspire future generations through her efforts. "It makes a big difference in all areas of life. I hope I’m not only impacting the workplace but my children – and their children," she says. See what their total recycled weight translates to: #TransformingInfrastructure #FlatironPeople #AmericaRecyclesDay #Sustainability #CircularEconomy
