Does this space look familiar? In July, we shared progress photos of these gender-neutral restrooms in the Van Pelt Library, and now they are complete! The Van Pelt Library restroom renovation transformed existing men’s and women’s restrooms on the library’s ground floor into a shared all-gender facility, featuring 14 individual stalls divided by phenolic panel partitions. Each panel, 15/16” thick and weighing approximately 550 lb, provides a robust yet space-efficient privacy solution. Per building?code?requirements,?each?stall?functions?as?an?independent room, necessitating the installation of a lighting?test?switch,?motion?sensor,?fire?alarm?device,?air supply and exhaust systems, fire sprinkler, and, for the building?perimeter?stalls,?a?radiant?heat?panel. Coordination of these MEP systems was crucial, requiring meticulous planning and real- time problem-solving!

Come take a walk with us through the Blair Arch! ? We’ve spent the summer restoring the fa?ade on both Blair Hall and Buyers Hall at Princeton University, and this grand arch tower was part of this careful restoration project. Masonry Preservation Group, Inc. proved to be the ideal specialist and finished the job strong so that we stayed ahead of schedule. Now that scaffolding is down and?school is back in session, over 8,000 students have the opportunity to walk through this arch daily.??

Check out these photos detailing one of Flatiron's ongoing projects at Princeton University’s Jadwin Hall. Here, we are installing mechanical and electrical infrastructure to service custom overhead racks that will enclose laser research tables. These enclosures serve as the centerpiece of our extensive renovations for the future lab. This project will be completed by the end of the year, and we're excited to share this finished space with you then!

This past weekend marked the 104th anniversary of the 19th Amendment’s ratification, which took place on August 18th, 1920, and granted women the freedom to vote. Every year we celebrate this historic milestone, and for the 100th anniversary in 2020, Flatiron had the privilege of creating the National Constitution Center’s 19th Amendment Gallery, in collaboration with Wick Fisher White and Elia Architecture & Interiors LLC.? ? This landmark project not only celebrates the centennial of women’s suffrage, but also stands as a combination of history and innovative design and engineering. We were incredibly fortunate to have been part of this project and are still today committed to continuing the celebration and education of women's rights. Flatiron Building Company, in partnership with CBP Architects and Inglis, recently finished installing 4 new elevators in the 2 Inglis Gardens at Belmont Facilities. This installation included two new elevator shafts with new elevators, as well as two additional elevators in the existing shafts. Additionally, we relocated the existing 4 laundry rooms in each building into one large, consolidated laundry facility at each building. ? Inglis Gardens is a facility that provides long-term nursing care and fosters a sense of community for individuals with physical disabilities. The new elevators are designed to improve accessibility and further meet the needs of their residents. FBC is proud to have this opportunity to work on these improvements at Inglis Gardens!

It's a busy summer for Flatiron, but some of the gang still found time to relax this past weekend! We had a great time on Saturday tubing on the Delaware. The weather was good, but the company was even better! We couldn’t be more grateful for our incredible team. ??♂???♀?
