    Lets talk about posting salary requirements on your job descriptions and why it will drive in real candidates not 1000s of unqualified candidates First, it's illegal to not post the salary in some states. So make sure you are compliant with employment laws! Hiring is already expensive, don't make it more expensive! Second, There is nothing worse for a candidate to get through a process for the hiring manager to say hey our salary for this role is 100K when they candidate is looking well above that. You've now wasted a candidate's time and your time, plus you made them probably never apply for your company again. And don't give me the “Well all the candidates are going to ask for the top salary!” Duh, but didn't you hire your Head of TA to negotiate salary and bring on top talent? Why are you paying them if they can't do that! Plus job seekers will see this and automatically know if they are underqualified or over qualified for the role Wouldn't it be nice not to go through 1000s of applicants that are nowhere near the experience you need? Posting your salary also gives you negotiating power. Hey XYZ candidate we are interested in you for this role but another candidate we are interested in has 5 more years of experience than you. They are at the top level of our salary range. Can we talk about what would make sense for you salary wise for your next role? If the candidate is truly interested they will say,? “Well I am currently at 120K but would really love a bump in my salary to the 130K mark.” Boom there's your answer! I find this especially true in the startup world Most of the time they don't have that head of TA in their team yet to negotiate. So as hiring managers why wouldn't you want to make this process easier for yourself! And finally, when a candidate says I am making 120K and looking to get to 130K don't offer them lower than 120K. I see this all the time and offers get kicked all the time because of it. They told you what they are looking for, don't insult them. Be transparent, if they arent a salary fit they arent a salary fit. It puts the ball back in their court for them to say ok if 130K isn't realistic then I can go as low as 125K. The cool thing about headhunters is they know candidates salary progressions We can report to the hiring manager they have got a 5% bump on every new job they've taken, let's fish there. So to recap, post the damn salary and be transparent, it gives you the hiring manager negotiation power!

    Since when did LinkedIn become a wasteland of bad/dated advice? Here are some suggestions based on experience, along with a proven track-record that work: There is no reason to list dates for jobs over 10 years ago on your resume or LinkedIn. It’s asking to get looked over for jobs you likely want and are qualified for. A summary on your resume is redundant and not something most recruiters will read. A small percent of hiring managers will. Writing your resume just for a hiring manager is missing the point. Generally there are several eyes that funnel a resume to said hiring manager. Using words and jargon the general public will not understand is asking for not yet considered for work. ChatGPT is a great tool to help with your resume and LinkedIn but not one to do the work for you. Think of it this way. If everyone is using ChatGPT to do this for them, more resumes look the same… this in turn means that said resume will no longer stand out or the digital pile. AI is fine but not what will get you your next role. As there are no unbiased stats proving AI to have this track-record. It’s a tool to use like salt and pepper for help.
