Getting ready for that spring closet overhaul? Please consider donating your clothes (if you're in Memphis or Atlanta we can use them in Hoodmart!) and also replacing a tshirt or two with some Flanders apparel! The shirts are super comfy and soft, the tanks are perfect for layering, and the hoodies are still helpful while the nights stay cool. You can't go wrong! Proceeds from sales go to helping veterans struggling with homelessness and addiction. 关于我们
Flanders Fields was formed by a group of veterans, combat veterans, purple heart recipients and amputees to serve other veterans in need. We have a primary focus on helping those (and their families) that have been affected by the VA fueled opioid epidemic, to provide services such as covering treatment costs, assist with transportation and placement to inpatient facilities, to facilitate job training and placement post-recovery, and to provide support to their families while they are getting the help they need. We aim to END veteran homelessness and suicide, and addiction is the driving factor behind 22 a day. We want to see that at zero, and we will attack this issue with the same unrelenting resolve, tenacity, and aggression with which we attack everything else. In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie, In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields.

Ben has a way with words and, unlike many, backs them up with actions. Please consider checking out and buying his and Jess' book, as it will continue today drive the amazing work they do in Memphis and beyond. https://lnkd.in/eZQunmzW
I’m empty. To anybody that thinks I’m this once-broken dude that found a magic bullet and I’m all better now, let’s get something cleared up. I’m not special. At all. In fact, I’m still a mess. I struggle. Often. I don’t remember the last time I slept through a night. I always have nightmares, they’ll never go away. Most nights I lay in bed for an hour before I fall asleep, sometimes longer, and I wake up a half dozen times from countless old injuries that have me tossing and turning. It takes a cataclysmic event to knock me out for me to actually get restful sleep. If you know me in real life, you know my answer to “how you doing” is an invariable “I’m tired”. I struggle with anxiety, imposter syndrome, my ADHD is horrendous and my history with meds and substance abuse keeps me from treating it, I’m constantly restless, I always feel in over my head and out of my league. I can’t remember the last time my brain stopped. I can’t remember the last time I was able to sit still and feel contentment. The only real “peace” I’ve ever felt was fake, induced by heroin or alcohol. Yes, I still have those insidious thoughts about dope and alcohol, about making stupid decisions and some more. If y’all can relate to any of that, check this out: I get up every single day, exhausted, but ready and willing to put one foot in front of the other and get some more miles in on this journey God has sent me on. I constantly push myself outside my comfort zone, I think big and I attempt the impossible, and I put action into seeing it through. The work I do fills that void, it gives me purpose, it reminds me what it used to be like and lets me find gratitude for what it’s like now, knowing I never have to go back to what it used to be like. Living for something bigger than myself, constantly emptying myself into others…it keeps me out of my own head. What I’m getting at is the work I do, helping others every chance I get…well, it helps me just as much as it helps those I serve. And if you find yourself in any of what I said at the beginning, give what I said at the end a shot. Worst thing that happens is you find yourself being a decent human being, and the best thing that happens is you find purpose and change some lives.

Veteran and recovery communities seem to experience loss more than most. It's all that much harder when the life lost is a young one. We're feeling that loss today, and want to remind you to love those around you, always act with kindness, and cherish every moment. Feel your grief and sadness, and send them love as often as you can. Remember that, especially if you are in recovery, loss can send you into a spiral. Don't let it, and don't go through this alone. ?Talk About It – Share your feelings with a friend, sponsor, or support group. ?Honor Their Memory – Write a letter, visit a meaningful place, or carry on something they loved. ?Give Yourself Grace – Healing isn’t linear. It’s okay to have tough days. ?Stay Connected – Isolation fuels both grief and addiction. Reach out, even when it’s hard. You’re not alone. We’re here, your community is here, and you have the strength to keep going. Reach out, even when it’s hard. #HealingAfterLoss #RecoveryJourney #CheckInOnYourBuddies #MentalHealthMatters #FlandersFields #WeFightMonsters #ABetorWay

Ever wonder how far $10 can really go? At Flanders Fields, it’s the difference between a veteran sleeping on the streets and having a place to call home. We’re asking just 10% of our followers to join us in donating $10/month—and here’s what that can do: ?? 100 donors = Meals for a veteran for a month ?? 500 donors = Gas & transportation to recovery programs ?? 5000 donors = Housing, food, and necessities for 5 veterans We’re not asking for much—just what you’d spend on a fast-food meal. Will you help? Join us today. ?? flandersfields.org/donate Flanders Fields helps veterans fighting the war after the war. Those struggling with mental health, substance abuse, homelessness - we see all kinds. We have a network we lean on to get the brave men and women the help they need when they fall in the gaps other resources leave open. We have a mission to make sure they're taken care of, because they've already made their sacrifices. They deserve more. You can help us get it to them. Like and share posts, purchase our merch, and donate. We can't do this without you and we're so thankful you're here! #veterans #veteranssupportingveterans #community #donate #nonprofit #supportnonprofits #shoplocal #strongertogether #22aday

What if $10 a month could change a veteran’s life? That’s less than 2 Starbucks drinks or a single fast-food meal. If just 10% of our LinkedIn followers pledge $10/month, we can: ?? House 5 veterans a month, covering rent, food & essentials. ?? Provide transportation to treatment & job interviews. ?? Maintain & improve supportive recovery homes. ?? Expand to help more veterans get off the streets. ??Provide job and skills training to help veterans regain self-sufficiency and get their lives back. ?? Are you in? Visit ?? flandersfields.org/donate ?? to commit to $10/month! ?? Comment “I’m in” to show your support! #10for10 #SupportOurVeterans #FlandersFields #VeteranHousing #EndHomelessness

People we love are going through the unimaginable. Please send them love -
It’s rare that I’m at a loss for words…but seeing someone I love lose their child has a way of making me that way. I can’t fathom the pain Nicole is undoubtedly going through right now, nor will I attempt to use the limited scope of our human language to convey it. I’ve been racking my brain since last night for the words to say, or how to help, but as of this moment, all I can come up with is to share this fundraiser. Nicole and Garland, please know we are here, and we will do anything and everything we can for y’all as you navigate this. #FentanylisTerrorism
