关于我们
FSO operates on the belief that musical engagement can be catalytic to human well-being, growth, and development. To that end, it offers: Social connection and an excuse to unplug . . . FSO provides a shared sense of community through unforgettable experiences with friends and family. The most common benefit reported by audience members is an increased sense of joy; that the orchestra’s concerts help them escape from the mundane aspects of their lives so they can be refreshed, inspired, and re-energized when they return home. Improved well-being and space to process emotion . . . Symphony concerts offer a comfortable meditative space and an opportunity to slow down and notice the way listening to music affects your well-being. The challenge and joy of learning something new . . . FSO’s popular Link Up music education program introduces orchestral music to 90% of Northern Arizona’s 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders as they play instruments, move, and sing with the live orchestra. Side-by-Side concerts are extraordinary opportunities for high-school instrumentalists to perform alongside FSO orchestra members. Students share the stage and develop musical relationships with their professional counterparts as they rehearse and perform music of the highest caliber. Since 2017, Music Director and Conductor Charles Latshaw has made the concert experience more welcoming to newcomers and traditionalists alike, regularly performing works by living composers. He brings tremendous zeal and an extraordinary ability to connect with audiences of all ages.

The Flagstaff Symphony wishes you happy holidays and a happy new year! Reflecting on a wonderful year… we want to thank YOU for the connection and community we have shared together this year. Below are a few memorable concert moments: -February’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream was an exciting collaboration between the FSO, Flagstaff Shakespeare Festival, NAU’s Vox Astra choir, and the NAU Community Dance Academy’s ballet program for an immersive storytelling experience. -April’s Visionaries in Sound and Motion captivated us with music and mesmerizing visuals, celebrating two groundbreaking works by contemporary women composers. -You gave a standing ovation for Karlos Rodriguez’s September performance of Elgar’s Cello Concerto. Plus, we experienced the orchestral power of Brahms’s Symphony No. 2 together in October. -In December, your presence at The Nutcracker provided a celebratory start to the holiday season, with over 3,200 people in attendance that weekend. We hope you have a wonderful last few days of 2024! We can’t wait to kick off 2025 with more excellent music and community connection.
